from 5 oz of pain, Dana hints that if GSP and Silva can remain unbeaten in their upcoming fights, they could meet up for a super fight.

GSP has stated that he'd like a few extra months to properly add weight for the fight. Thus with both of their prior commitments to fights in 2009, 2010 would be the year it happens.

Who are the contenders at 170 after Alves? Condit? Shields? Johnson? GSP and Silva are in the same situation, just one fight removed. Once GSP takes out Alves (in June/July), he's got no competition. Silva already has no competition. Assuming Silva has one fight at 205 in 2009 (in the late summer), I think we can see GSP/Silva by the end of the year. There just isn't much else out there for them. It works because GSP's training partners and friends (Marquardt, Cote) have already gotten their shot so he won't be in their way.

Silva was mounted by a gassed out Travis Lutter. I think GSP would stand a very good chance against him.

Its also possible we see GSP get a tune up at 185 before jumping in to fight Silva. But who? Muay-Thai... BJJ... lanky... Wilson Gouveia, I'm looking at you.

Can Alves upset GSP? I haven't seen many Alves fights, but he looks pretty big, so I don't know if GSP will be able to bully him around.

A lot of ppl are wondering the same thing... If Keith Jardine and Rashad Evans say GSP is as strong as most 205'ers well I have not worries.

GSP is an athletic freak, like Ray Lewis, randy Moss, Vince Carter. It won't matter how big Alves is, he's going to be put on his back and he's going to be ground to dust.

Matt Hughes was able to take Alves down, Koscheck was able to land good punches against him, and Jon Fitch was able to TKO him.

as long as GSP is able to take you're down.. it's pretty much over.
the only thing i'd give Alves over Penn and some of GSP other oponents is that he is much stronger and bigger than the rest of the welterweights.. so he'll stand more of chance on the ground than submit to GSP strength..
