Alright I have heard like 5 members now bitching about Yao Ming being the highest voted player and how he doesn't deserve to start in the ASG...etc...and the Chinese vote...etc...etc... Alright, every team needs a couple of centers and it doesn't matter if China votes or not, Yao is going to go to the all-star game because they need a center. I'm just sick of everyone bitching about a guy who averages 20/10 playinng center and how he doesn't deserve to go to the ASG. What other center deserves it more than him in the west?
I'm just sick and tired of Yao haters thats all...he puts up 20/10 and hits over 50% of his shots and everyone pisses and moans because he starts in some worthless game in the middle of the year.
I agree, he gets hated on for being the leading vote getter, but he deserves to be in it and should be. The fact is he's a top center and there aren't many out there better.
Yeah...Im sick and tired of it. I don't really see a lot of love for my man Yao and it's bothering me. Hes playing solid as of late. Hes averaging around 26 PPG. and 13-14 RPG. in the last 6 game and hes still not getting love.I agree people sometimes overrate him but hes a solid center.Give him 1-2 years and he'll dominate.Bank on it.
Well this year it was fine because Camby was injured and there wasn't much else. But when Shaq was still playing with the Lakers Yao got voted to start ahead of him. That is not fair at all. He shouldn't be voted ahead of Camby next year if Camby has close to the season he is having this year.But the ASG is just all fun so I don't really care too much about it. You know? What are we gonna do? Yao starts, so what?

You could argue Camby, because he is a great player, but people want to see Yao.
I basically stated my opinion already twice on this issue on this board. In the all-star thread and the overrated thread. It's the same old people who think Chinese people have some conspiracy in putting Yao the starter.
He may be soft on the interior and perhaps he can be more of an aggresive player, but the fact is he is putting up good numbers regardless of his size. I dont think he deserves to lead the league in votes for the all-star game, but what other center out west are you going to put in his spot? If he doesnt lead the league in votes and you get your ballet, who are you going to put your vote for West center as?

What will he learn that he has not already learned? Yao will never dominate because its not in his blood to be that type of player. Plus, he cannot learn the NBA game since his mandatory Team China training, and he plays well for times, but other times he seems lost. I would take Amare over Yao every day of the week, twice on Sunday, then be happy i had a player who has it in him to dominate other players.

Yao beats him in every catagory except blocks/steals/reboundsAs for Amare-I like Amare, but Yao is a better player.Yao is a better defensive player than Amare, a better rebounder than Amare, got a better post-up game than Amare (with Amare being a much better slasher).Amare is a great athlete- and can get to the bucket at will- but theres not much else he can do.

Camby owns Yao in defense. Defense is more important for a Center. There it is :winkglasses:
You would honestly rather have Yao Ming over Amare Stoudemire? Are you serious or did you forget that he put up 27ppg last year and was only 21?
7'6" 300 pounds players are not like anyone else, they have very unique bodies where the are slow to react, you can't expect Yao Ming to ever play great defense.
But that doesn't mean that you can say that he is as good a defender as Camby just because he is big like that. Clearly, Marcus is a much better defender, regardless of Yao's height.

Yao Ming doesn't do much besides scoring either. Amare and Yao both average 9 rebounds a game over their career so I don't know why you think Yao is a better rebounder. Amare's rebounding is way overblown. With Marion playing PF and gobbling up rebounds I don't see it as a problem. (The Suns were the #1 rebounding team last year).
