So I was having a discussion elsewhere about who had the better game. LeBron had 52/11/9, but in 44 minutes. Kobe had 61 points on a ridiculous TS% in 37 minutes. What do you guys think? In 37 minutes LeBron had 40 points, 10 assists, 8 rebounds, on 2-7 three point shooting and just over 50% from the field.
I don't know what TS means, but they both had great games. Kobe's game will stand out more because he broke a record, so ultimately, his performance is more special. Most important thing is that the Lakers and Cavs both won. lol
TS (True Shooting %) is converting three pointers to two pointers so that percentages are measured more effectively (and accounts for Free Throws). Kobe was 20-20 from the line and shot from the arc a bit better, he was more efficient overall.
52 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists trumps 61 points and 3 assists any day. How can you even argue with a 50 point triple-double?
Good point, I didn't notice the triple double for some reason. Lebron had the overall better game, but Kobe's was more special.
I'll take Kobe's performance. LeBron pretty much bull dozed his teammates for that last rebound. Kobe also didn't give up 39 and 12 to his man.
Easily. LeBron's TS%: 62.86 Kobe's TS%: 76.63 That's a pretty big difference. Points per minute: 1.64 for Kobe compared to 1.18 for LeBron. Given the same amount of minutes he would have reached 72 points. And Kobe played better defense from what I recall.
Come on huevon, you're better than that. You know that you can't predict facts from stats. Anyway, I didn't watch either game so I don't know about defense. But stats wise, LeBron takes the cake IMO, despite the lower shooting % and more minutes played. It's not like LeBron had a horrible shooting night; he shot efficiently as well.
Playing a ~quarter longer will help your numbers look better too. I thought you were better then that. Kobe didn't just shoot "well" though, and minutes has always played a factor in stats as well. The difference between 40 percent shooting and 54% shooting is huge, I'm not going to downplay that. Kobe's the best player in the League when he's hot. His arsenal of moves makes him the most dangerous at that point.
as i was watching that cleveland vs ny game, i couldn't help but feel as though lebron was padding his stats
How can you argue about who they were defending? Kobe was gaurding WILSON CHANDLER, and Lebron was guarding David Lee and Al Harrington who are IMO boarderline allstars. 50 and a trip dub beats 60 any day.
It's funny, the announcers here kept saying that Lebron's performance wasn't "natural", but I am not sure about that.
not to get into semantics, but what is 'natural'? by my sentiments, Lebron was quoted as to saying he was just playing the game and not worrying about trying to one-up Kobe, but it sure felt like it the whole game. i wonder who feeds him the PR comments.
Maybe if Al Harrington was a borderline star I'd buy it, but he isn't and he torched Bron for 18+ points over his average on a slick percentage. Not everyone gets 61 in 37 minutes on that efficiency, I'll take KB's performance.
