Damn. Crawford was on FIRE! Plus he was passing well. And how about Azibuike with, what was it, 21 points in the 1st quarter or something? And Jax gets his first triple-double. Even Maggette looked like solid gold. Damn if this game didn't go against everything I've been saying about the "vets." These guys were torching tonight! Only guy who struggled was, once again, Monta...
Another DNP for Morrow and Randolph. Screw you, Nelson. Warriors are up 19 with 3:45 left and these guys can't even get into the game? If you can't play a young guy in that situation, then when can you? What's the point, you may as well just cut them all right now. At least Crawford and Jackson got their 45+ minutes. But hey, on the bright side we'll end the year 26-56 instead of a much uglier 25-57. Whoopdee freekin doo.
Really? Did I miss something? Are you serious man? Of all the nights to complain. And BTW screw Randolph. Dude thinks hes above the team, he thinks he can bitch and moan to get playing time then fires his agent because his agent couldn't bitch and moan enough to get him playing time. Why don't you work hard and wait your godamn turn like, oh I don't know, every other player in the entire league? Dude's playing more than Wright and Beli did last year, more than Andris his first year. Plus he can look at guys like Jackson, CJ Watson, Kelenna, Jermario Davidson, etc. as guys who had to work to break into the league. If I was his teammate I would be furious that he'd go whining and complaining to get playing time instead of earning it like everyone else. He thinks hes above everyone else on the team and clearly has a major sense of entitlement. Nellie is treating him just like everyone else and Randolph is probably actually making it worse because Nellie would be losing the respect of every other player on the team if he played Randolph at all now (even if he earned it).
Yes, I am serious. What's the point of this year if not to develop young players for the future? I have news for you, this team is not even going to sniff the playoffs this year. Not even when this game was already in garbage time could any of the young guys get PT. I don't care about Nelson's damn all-time wins record, I want to see this team prepare itself as best they can for a year when they do have a chance at the playoffs. And as far as Randolph goes, I haven't heard much public bitching from him, nor have I heard that any of his teammates are angry with him (other than Kurz for getting an elbow in the face). He changed agents and I think most of the talking has come from people who are...not him, and much of what people are saying is speculation. If you're not going to play him, in this lost year, then trade him. I'm not saying he should be starting, not saying he should be getting 20 minutes a game, but sheesh, give the dude a couple minutes just to stay warm at least and rest your starters, who once again, same as in San Antonio, were clearly fatigued down the stretch. Same goes for Morrow, Belinelli, and Wright, all of whom only got much of their playing time earlier in the year because Nelson was forced into it due to injury. Now that the vets are back, Nelson's true colors are coming back. He will play the vets until they drop. You see the big minutes that Crawford, Jackson, and Maggette are putting up, even when they are horrible (although all were good tonight). Ellis shouldn't even be playing right now, he can't hit a shot to save his life and he was totally lacking any kind of aggressiveness tonight. I don't even think he drove to the hoop a single time in the game. A passive Ellis with a broken jump shot is a wasted roster spot.
Rez, Your premise that players need floor time in order to develop is flawed. The point of last night is to show the kids how to play. What it means to be professionals. How toclose out a game. There are a ton of lessons to be learned from the bench.
This is the NBA not high school basketball, Veterans who have earned the right to play through slumps, get that chance. Young guys who bitch and whine and don't. Guys like Nelly are easy to get minutes from. Dive for loose balls at practice, don't take 15 footers until you get the green light, box out and be in the right position. Eventually, you'll get your shot. If you don't want to do that, then you won't get minutes. It's simple. These kids are just too arrogant to understand this. Wright and Belly figured it out. They just happened to get banged up. It's hilarious to me that the team leads by 20 the whole game and you're upset. Pretty pathetic
I should note that despite my rant, I am glad they won and I definitely enjoyed watching it. It's nice to win, I just don't think wins should be the main focus right now. Otherwise we are right back where we started next year. You say they led by 20 the whole game, that's just my point, it's garbage time and you have a promising rookie and the NBA's leading 3 point shooter sitting on the bench the entire game, I just don't think that's right. Last night it wasn't even a choice between playing young guys and winning, Nelson could have done BOTH and elected to grind his vets to the end instead. I think you guys are blowing the Randolph thing WAY out of proportion. All of a sudden he's a whining, pouting, childish, privileged brat with no skills? Where is the evidence for that?
Belly did at first, then Wright, and now Randolph. Eventually the 1st two figured it out. Randolph is taking a different route with his agent and his uncle.
