It's being reported that Phoenix is actively shopping Amare Stoudemire. Do you think the Blazers should try to deal for him? What would it take? I'm guessing something like LaMarcus, Bayless, and Raef...

Btw, Amare hates the slow system of Porter what makes you think he'll like an even slower and just as stale offense of Nate's?

    NO.

Not even if the deal was straight up. LA is getting better. Amare is what he is. SPOILED, and expensive.

BTW, I wouldn't do it either. I'm just throwing it out there.

It seems like if Oden develops like he should (and there's no reason to think he won't), it will be a similar situation to what he's going through in Phoenix. Por would be better off with a secondary scorer and tough rebounder and defender at the 4. So no, I'd keep LMA and use Raef for a PG if possible or wait til his contract ends and spread the money to get a backup 4, someone like Turiaf, and...there's not a whole lot else you need. I was going to say a vet PG to play until Bayless is ready but I don't think you be able to find anyone better than Blake at a reasonable cost.

if we can do it with Raef's expiring and change then yes. Otherwise, hell no. So, hell no.

No way amare can be had for spare parts.

though, if i had to guess one team that would sell their star for spare parts and expiring contracts i would guess Phoenix. They have sold alot of picks and players for contracts to save change (ala Sergio, Rudy, etc).

Aldridge+Raef. Maybe. I don't know. I'd rather go after Bosh who at least gives effort even when the team is losing.

He's dropped off a lot this year, which is concerning. He's still very good, but he's not the hugely valuable player he was the last couple of season. If he can't be a superstar in a slower, half-court system, he's more Shawn Kemp (the good version) than a dominant big man.

I would just stick with Aldridge, who plays superior defense and could definitely reach Stoudemire's current level (not the level Stoudemire was at last year, but may never regain).

Re: Would you trade LaMarcus for Amare

    No thank you.

Phx is not in the position of strength here. Everyone around the league knows a) they're imploding, b) they're money-driven, c) they're getting pretty darn old, d) Amare's the real "cancer" in that locker room. Put in e) No one who has expiring contracts in the next couple of years is going to give them to PHX for Amare when they could save that money for LBJ, Wade, Bosh, etc. and PHX may be up a creek. They can't get anything close to what he's worth, and they can't really live with him, can they?

No. I don't just want to see a uniform win. I want to see the players we have win.

And here I was thinking I was original for getting us 2 veterans and 2 defenders. :(

Re: Would you trade LaMarcus for Amare

I was mostly thinking about Quick referencing a SF as the "sweetener" in a deal. That being Hill. Though, Thabo isn't a bad option. It just seems like a lateral move to me. I personally wouldn't do it because Kirk hasnt made me a believer in the last 2 years.

We can arguably get more for Raef's expiring come feb. 19.
