Good to hear they're still looking to improve. No need to get complacent, with or without Bynum. I want another Gasol deal :ghoti:

I don't see how we resign Odom. We're pretty much stuck with him since we're desperate to cover Bynum's absence.

Well, if Odom realizes he's not worth what he thinks he is...we could resign him. Plus, we can go over the cap to get him...it's just a matter of how much Dr. Buss and co. are going to be willing to spend this offseason to keep the team together. If Odom takes a paycut down to $7-8mil, he might be worth bringing back, and we could probably bring Ariza back if he takes that kind of a paycut. If he can't, and wants to get his $12+mil per year, fuck him and let him walk.

I don't know, everything I've heard come out of Odom's mouth sounds like someone concerned with Money. I think if we take it all we might get a discount, if not he's gone for sure.

I don't really know why Odom would be concerned with money. He could retire today and have enough money for the rest of his life and his kids' lives. Money shouldn't be what he's looking for.

Shouldn't, true, but who knows what's going through his brain. Not everyone is a ring freak.

Lamar is someone who, I wouldn't mind having back at a reasonable price, but I wouldn't mind not having back either.

I realized he played well for us tonight, but look throughout this season and he has been pretty horrible for the most part. At a reasonable price, he can stay, but if he's asking for something big, he can go elsewhere. I'm not a very big fan at all. For someone in a contract year, he sure doesn't seem like he cares for the majority of the games. I can only imagine giving him a long-term deal would make him even more lazy, but who knows.

    Ariza is more important.

Yet Ariza played 11 minutes tonight. Is he ok? What's going on there?

His minutes have been limited ever since suffering his concussion, if I remember correctly. Maybe they're trying to it easy on him for a while?

But obviously he's not gonna see more minutes than Phil's pet. (see avy :0)

Figures; at the end of the game defense was so crucial, I was quite perplexed why Trevor wasn't in there.

i was talking to a friend and he told me that he read somewhere that because of Bynum's injury, the Lakers were looking for a center... they were looking at Shaq, Brad Miller and Sheed.

i said WTF! there's know way they can and should do this.

to improve? as long as we don't touch our core (Fish-Kobe-Odom-Pau-Bynum-Ariza-Farmar-Vujacic)... i'd feel bad if Odom were traded and he didnt get to win a ring with us LOL

Amare/Bosh for Pau? hahaha too bad we already developed a bond with Pau, the Lakers FO would lack ethics if they did trade Pau for one of those guys.

i wouldn't want this to be another Gasol type deal though. it would just be wrong to have so many good players LOL... we are and SHOULD be capable of winning the title as is with our current lineup.

    - If he wants to stay in LA, he'll have to sign for less money.

    - NO to Brad Miller! If Bynum returns the Lakers rotation would be f*cked up. 12M for a back - up center? NO WAY

    - Odom looked like KG's kryptonite in last night's game! Good thing he stepped up! Hope he isn't traded and chooses to sign with us for less next year. (Kobe please take a pay - cut)

-The Lakers' aren't looking at Shaq, that is a made up media rumor. They're not going to pay a back up C that much.

-Ariza is a terrible match up on Pierce. Last night on TNT, they reported that Phil said that Ariza is just to weak to defend Pierce. That is why you saw Luke on him.

I heard Ariza got into it with the coaching staff as well, and was hesitant with his offense. Not sure if I trust Luke but we got enough at least.

LO seems intent on staying here in LA, I wonder if he'd settle for $8-9 million/year? I like Powell a lot, that kid is fucking tough. He is scrappy and has a pretty nice J. I'd like to keep him around. I hope Phil gives him PT when Big Drew returns, as well.

Huevon, where did you hear Ariza got into it with the coaching staff? I've had a hunch that could have happened, but haven't read anything over at LG or heard anything on the radio that backs it up.

It was in a couple of threads over at LG (don't know how credible that is), they said he was even screaming at Phil at one point IIRC during a timeout, and had to be pulled away a bit. I think his gambles and awkward offense also cost him.
