In regards to the topic, not some macho BS, Reddick will be not a great pro, but someone who can shoot the three and somewhat create his own shot just enough of the time to get PT. I would expect his ceiling to be 16pts-4asts a night.

I doubt he would get many assists but I could see him averaging a Jeff Hornacek like 15ppg.

My turn...For the record, I'm not a Duke fan at all. I love the Kansas Jayhawks and UNC, which means I hate Duke. With that said, I'll start with the comparison, and I'll compare him to a non-white player (since that was an issue earlier): Ray Allen. Why? Well...Redick is, hands down, the best shooter in college basketball. Put a hand in his face, and he'll still hit the shot. His range is the NBA three, and he can hit them in the clutch. His mid-range game is a college version of Richard Hamilton. Defensively, he's a pest, but he's not strong enough to take it to the next level yet. His quickness will allow him to pick off a few passes and strip a couple of guys, but as far as playing as a two-guard in the NBA, he'll have trouble once those opponents post up on him......which brings me to the biggest negative for Redick: his size. It's like what Salim Stoudamire was questioned about before he came into the league, except Redick has a bigger problem. He's not an NBA point, and he's a bit small to play the two. However, if you run back up to the top of my post, you'll find the comparison, and realize why a 6'4" shooter in J.J. Redick compares best to a 6'5" shooter in Ray Allen. As far as success goes, he'll find it...but he won't be a superstar unless he puts on 15+ pounds and hits the gym much more, something you can expect later in his career. If you can give Redick a strong frontcourt, he can average 20 a game with great spacing and many one-on-one opportunities, because he has a sense for an opponent's anticipation, whether it's on a block or steal. It's exactly how he does his work, and it couldn't get any worse from here as long as he stays focused and finds the right NBA team.

As a final statement here before I leave this thread altogether because of all these immature posters acting like shitheads.I think JJ will be a 12 ppg guy over his career. And I think he will win 6th man of the year. Because he is obviously one of the best in college at moving without the ball so he can get a good shot. But until he develops more to his offensive repetoir and becomes a greater defender he will not start in the NBA.

I don't get why he has to be a better defender. He already tries harder than 90% of NBA players, and if you would take the time to watch NBA games you would see Defence is a virtual non-issue in todays game. JJ is already at an acceptable level. And of course he needs to develop a reputoire, but what do NBA teams lack msot these days? A mid-range shot. JJ has made his career off the college 3, which is equivalent to a 19 footer in the NBA. He can also step out an hit the NBA three when needed. NBA teams would die for a player with his court savvy and jumpshot. He won't be a 20 Point scorer his first year, but in time, I don't see why he can't be just that

JJ has only started doing it this year, and he still hasnt quite perfected that drive. Now, im guessing you're not trying to say he will be just like Ray Allen, because that is crazy talk. Hes more like Peja, where hes all about the outside shot (Cept not with the rebounding, and i dont think he'll average close to 30 points in one season), but hes only like Ray in the fact that he can shoot it outside. Rip is a bit more fair of a comparrison, but only offensively, because Rip is one of the most underrated defensive players in the league. Now im a Duke hater, bad too, lol, but im still gonna give JJ a shot to prove something in the pros. I wont judge him based on college, because ya never know what will happen in the NBA.

The Ray Allen comparison has more to do with being a great shooter, an undersized two-guard, and lacking both strength and size to play hard-nosed defense against the bigger guards. I'd say it's a very good comparison between a pro player and a college player, minus the actual resume.

But Ray can play hard-nosed defense against guys. He is a very strong guy, and people underrate him a lot about his defense. He is a very good defensive player, this year averaging 1.44 steals. Now, i know that isnt the greatest in the league, but that is still pretty good defense.

I don't like the Ray comparison. Ray is much more than just a shooter. He can penetrate, pass, and even defend now. He is very strong, so i don't know what you're talking about when you say he is lacking strength.

That's why I compared JJ to Redd, because all Redd does is shoot, with occasional penetration and dish efforts. That's what I see JJ doing, along with a hint of Rip Hamilton

He can fake to the right and go back to the left and has a very quick release with his Left hand, that fools a lot of defenders."

I believe it was Kmart who metioned this, and it was a really good point. He tries so much harder on the defensive end, then about 90% of the league. Guys like Paul Pierce, Tracy McGrady, and Vince Carter will try hard on the offense, but generally not give a hoot on the defensive end. If JJ keeps his work ethic at the level it is now, then he can be a very bothersome defender. He's a guy that will never back down from anything, and is sure to give it his all. So if he can do that in the NBA, he should end up, for the most part, a guy that is a better defender then the likes of the Vince Carters and Paul Pierces of the league. Now I'm not saying that Paul and Vince are bad, they just generally don't give it there all unless they have a big challenge at hand.

Why do people think Kerr was such a good palyer? He fed off great players and hit open jump shots. He had a few memorable games in there, but wasn't even as good as John Paxson. If Reddick is as good a player as Kerr, he has derastiaclly underachieved. If he wins as much as Kerr however, he'll be considered one of the greatest winners ever (Barring he ins the National Title this year [IMG] )

Steve Kerr didn't do much of anything except get the ball when Jordan or Pippen got double teamed. J.J. Redick and Kerr have little in common.

Comparing Redick with Kerr isn't accurate at all. I don't ever remember seeing Kerr move with the ball. He was always a spot up shooter. He would have been forgotton long ago if he didn't have guys like Pippen, Jordan, Duncan, and Robinson making his team a championship contender.
