Yes, the men's team is down 19 to 13 at halftime against ASU. I don't think I've seen a college game where both teams were this low of scoring in my lifetime. Bizarre.
Obviously, you've never heard of Ralph Miller (Former OSU coach). In his early days, there was no shot clock. If he was ahead by 4, they simply wouldn't shoot the ball for the rest of the game, until they were fouled - exciting stuff!!
48-39 games are one of the reasons why I just can't get THAT pumped up for college hoops. I hate the 2 half's rule, the shot clock is way to long..play NBA length games.
One year my team was in the state basketball playoffs at Reser. We were watching the other teams. Siuslaw decided to play the "hold it" strategy against Tillamook (who went on to win it all that year). The score at halftime was 2-0 if I remember right. Tillamook had two good bigs and good shooters, and they played a zone defense and wouldn't go out to guard near halfcourt. So Siuslaw held the ball for the entire quarter and took a shot at the end of the quarter. They had to abandon this strategy when they were down in the 4th quarter, and I think the final score was 16-7. And that was a state quarterfinal game I'm pretty sure. Talk about slow.
