Nothing has really stuck yet with Roy. The raidio play by play guy has been trying for awhile now to make "The Natural" stick (I'm not feeling it), Roy wonder has been floated for awhile, but hasn't gained much traction. The most common seems to be the unimaginative and vanilla "B-Roy"

He really needs a decent nickname.

Roy's name is pretty unique and I don't think he needs a nickname. He's not Michael Smith or Fred Jones.

    He's Brandon Roy.

I don't think you can pick a better name for Roy than "The Natural" because that is exactly what he is on the basketball court. His game is smooth and effort-less. He is "Roy Hobbs" because he is good at every part of the game.

Having said that....Just "Roy" works for me.

Michael Jordan had a nickname, y'know.

    Unless you meant Michael Cage?

    What about "Air Jordan"

In that case "Roy Wonder" makes a lot of sense, being comparable. I like it.

I've seen Roy Wonder signs. I kind of like it.

I saw the NY Times article last night. Nice to see some big paper recognition for Roy Wonder.

Air Jordan were shoes, "I want to be like Mike" was the marketing slogan. MJ was what he was called more often than not by Media. Atleast that's what I saw.

If and when LeBron signs here, it'll be King James and the ROYal Court... Bit of a mouthful and might require arena renaming, so probably best to target someone other than LeBron.

I still like the nickname I proposed during Roy's rookie year:

    Hobbs.

Too subtle, I guess. It never caught on.

    What about "Hobbes"?

Thomas Hobbes, in Leviathan, made a pretty interesting and influential case for monarchy, and "Roy" is Old French for "King"?

    THAT would be too subtle.

    ;)

Roy Wonder is cool. The Natural isn't bad, but it's unoriginal.

Air Jordan wasn't just the shoe... that was his nicname. People called him "His Airness" and things like that.

I also like Roy Wonder more than The Natural. But my only problem with Roy Wonder is that it makes Brandon sound like a sidekick (Robin, the "Boy Wonder" was Batman's sidekick). However, Roy Wonder is the best nickname that I've heard so far. Unless we can call him the Dark Knight. That would be cool, but there's no relevance to his name and it most likely won't catch on.

Isn't that just a derivative of "The Natural"?
