why not? I don't really see him deserving the near max contract he's going to get, and he's not a very efficient scorer. I know that if he just became a more aggressive player he'd be more valuable than Amare, but people have been saying that forever about players, if Darius Miles can develop a jump shot etc... The guy is soft, and I think that it will kill the Blazers against good teams.

Phoenix can get better than that for Amare.

I like that for the Blazers, no way Houston makes that deal though. They replace Landry with Frye - HUGE downgrade. Battier with Outlaw - debatable, but a team in win-now mode would probably prefer the former.

    Looks like robbery for us...

Raef, Outlaw, and Sergio, for Deng and Hinrich? Are you joking?

Exactly why I said Phoenix would be the ones to turn it down.

I don't have any specific trades to offer up at this point, just some comments:

It seems that this is really Portland's last chance for the next 6-7 years to make a big splash. They either stand pat (with a few minor free agent signings and minor trades) for the foreseeable future or they do something right now. Given that, I think it's important to get somebody who will make an impact now and for at least 5 years. It has to be at sf or pg and there don't seem to be any great pg's available at this time, so I will focus on SF. Seems he has to be 28 years of age or less and an above average defender.

So I would go after Josh Smith, Caron Butler, Luol Deng or Gerald Wallace. I think Wallace is attainable but his injury history is troublesome. Josh Smith or Luol Deng might be available as a third party in a Stoudamire trade, though I think it would make more sense for Atlanta. I agree with the posters that it would be worth taking on Arenas contract to get Butler. Because of that we might not have to get up as much talent to get him. Smith and Deng would require giving up the most talent but I think we would have to consider anyone besides our top three.

Something like that, with cash considerations and 2 of our plethora of 2nd rounders going to Detroit, and cash going to Milwaukee as well. Maybe even a lottery protected 1st to the Bucks. Tried to make it fair but... :dunno:

From the Bucks point of view, Jefferson and Gadzuric for Raef/Outlaw/Channing immediately rids them of some 40-45 million in future payroll for a close level of production, and that huge salary dump + cash/picks makes up the difference in value for the Sessions for Bayless swap. Also it should be noted that Bayless still has 3 more seasons of rookie pay scale that adds up to about 8 million, whereas Sessions could command up to that much as his starting salary on the open market as an restricted free agent this summer.

Detriot, their head coach Michael Curry just doesn't make any time for Maxiell in thier rotation, over the past 5 games he's averaged a measly 10.2 minutes per contest, they just signed him to a long term extension this offseason but if they're not going to play him it may just be in their best interest to trade him for an expiring like Diogu. Combined with cutting a small amount of payroll this season (about half a million), and the rights to Koponen and some second rounders and it might be enough to entice them.

For Portland we take on a lot of salary, but complete the starting lineup and the bench for our future. A Session/Roy/Jefferson/LMA/Oden starting lineup would be fantastic, with amazing youth paired along with a guy in Jefferson who's got a ton of playoff/finals experience. Sessions and Jefferson can both attack the rim and draw FTs, and I think Jefferson especially would be good paired with an unselfish post passer in Oden who looks to hit cutters. Combined with a steady, tough bench of Blake/Rudy/Batum/Maxiell/Pryzbilla and this team has everything it needs for multiple playoff runs. Only thing left to do is find new homes for guys like Sergio and Martell.

    Now it works!

Not that I want to give up Rudy OR Outlaw, but this deal is feasible and it's clearly not a ripoff for either team. At this point I'd rather see Webster go than Outlaw, but then again Webster still is young and who knows what he could turn into.

But this one works, and it's not too shabby IMO.

Sessions isn't going anywhere, I don't know why people think he is even available. I do wonder why Skiles had him behind Ridnour until now, as I assumed that they let Mo Williams go to make room for Sessions.

Because he's a free agent at the end of the season and the Bucks are over the cap and don't have his full Bird rights.

Good point, I guess I didn't realize that they didn't have his full Bird rights yet. That sucks for them. Doesn't Early-Bird rights help though? I haven't studied the CBA as much as I'd like to think.

that just isn't a good trade at all. Wallace could be had for much less than Rudy and Travis and Bell has been declining lately.
If we are trading Rudy I want a Butler caliber player coming back..whether that is feasible or not, I don't know..just the value I place on him.

It helps, but it only allows them to go over the cap to re-sign him up to a certain amount, which I believe is the MLE or there-about. If a team offers him more than that, they wouldn't be able to match.
