On a scale of 1 to 10, how pissed will you be when KP doesn't make a trade?

The RLEC is too valuable to waste. Even a modest upgrade is better than doing nothing. People tend to forget that upgrading from "lousy" to "average" is the easy part. Going from "average" to actual "contender" is far more difficult. Sometimes, you have to settle for several modest moves, rather than 1 earthshaker.

I don't think anybody disagrees with that.

The problem, IMHO, is that some fans have closed their minds to any trade not involving a young player like Wallace. In my mind, bringing in a vet like Miller is not just making a deal to shake things up - it is part of the growth process.

Definitely. I think a point guard like Miller would be a huge upgrade for us.

    0. I would have to believe that KP either can't get a deal done, or Paul Allen wants the cap relief from RLEC more then any players that are available. Either way, I would completely understand.

You sure aren't expecting much if we still lose ground with a trade.

We can easily improve this team. There are obvious holes that can be filled. We have a contract that is extremely valuable. What FA this summer will improve us as much as we could get via trade with Raef? I don't see any.

The workload KP has is pathetic. You sit around all day watching College basketball and the Blazers. He really doesn't do squat until the summer months. I see him sitting on his hands come trade deadline. Just a gut feeling.

I don't think that you have the slightest idea of what you're talking about.

Since sports is entertainment to me, I'm beginning to come around to the idea that watching this place blow up might be even more fun than any improvement the Blazers might experience as a result of a trade.

    Soda-

Are you saying you know for a fact we won't make any deal? I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if we traded Ike or Frye.

Without knowing what we were offered, it's hard for me to be mad when we don't make a trade, so I guess that means I'll be a 1 if it happens. If I find out we turned down Caron Butler for Reaf, I'd be a 9.5. If I found out we turned down Salmons for Reaf and Rudy, I'd be a -1. It all depends on the deals...

I just have a strong suspicion that KP is very risk-averse during this part of the season and would rather take the easier path and just not make a deal.

I'm just going to be bummed because we'd miss out on utilizing a huge asset. I'm not saying a deal would make us a championship contender instantly, but it might make us a deep playoff team. And if bringing someone in extends us into the second round or perhaps even the WCF if a few things break our way, I'd be all for it. I'd much rather have guys like Brandon, LaMarcus, Greg and Rudy taste some playoff success and give us a leg up on the championship run by next year rather than not making a deal, having us finish the season in the 7th or 8th seed, and watching us get swept or lose in 5 games to the Lakers or the Spurs.

The latter would do nothing for the development of this team.

I will me more upset if we come away with someone who is not top tier than I will be keeping what we have and letting it work its way out. Just because we have had a good run, I think undermining the franchise future to win a few more games this season is retarded.

The issue I have reading through this thread is the fact taht if a trade doen't happen, it must mean there were no good opportunites out there for KP. KP is a wizard at evaluating young talent, but he has yet to pull off a major or semi-major trade for a vet. I don't think it can just be assumed KP had no opportunties to make a deal . . . another possiblity is KP could have had some deals on the table that might have improved the team, but wouldn't or couldn't get the deal done.

I'm not saying that is the case, but not buying into the assumption on this board that no trade means no opportunities.

I'd be a 1... not disappointed at all. I will be excited if they do make a trade though... because I think if they do it will be a nice one... but I like our team as is. You have to improve when you can... and that contract is a nice chip... but we haven't even seen Webster in the lineup yet.

the Zach trade wasnt major or semi-major? Didn't they receive back veterans James Jones and Channing Fry as well as the opportunity to add Euro vet Rudy?
You said you'd be a 7 which would seem to indicate you'd be pretty pissed.
