This sounds like more than we should have to give up for Amare. Still, I am intrigued. I always like to get the best player in the deal. In this case, we consolidate some of our depth for not just the best player, but a superstar. There are a lot of questions though. Mainly, Amare's attitude as far as I'm concerned.

I'm not a member of the LMA > Amare camp....so I think it would be a mistake for KP to not be in talks with them. I'd be a lot happier if got to keep Bayless, though.

Edit: the other big question mark in my book is: will Amare re-sign with us in 2010?

Bayless, Freeland and Raef is the offer for Stoudamire, who will be traded to a 3rd team for future draft picks.

LaMarcus is staying put for certain.

More like where there's smoke, there's Steve Kerr taking a huge bong hit. That trade is unbelievably lopsided in favor of the team with no leverage.

Didn't we have a guy like that a couple of years ago?

Seems to me Amare is a more athletic Zach.

Then it won't happen, because PHX is getting royally fucked. No amount of cash or second rounders will change that.

Return of Nash to PHX in '04

Marion, a 1-time all-star, makes it 3 consecutive years with Nash, drastically improving his rebounding and shooting percentages.
Bell, goes from around 50 3's per year to around 200 per in these same 3 years mentioned above. Assists also doubled over these 3 years.
Barbosa, similar situation to Bell. An increase in PT, but not enough to warrant the huge benefit he received from the system and Nash, demonstrated by scoring AVG and 3's
Richardson had an equally good year in LAC, slight improvements with PHX, mainly 3's...but just look at the massive dropoff statistically after he left PHX...
Diaw, inflated numbers during these 3 years, although his scoring decreased each year, due to Amares return. He is playing well in CHA though.
Tim Thomas was also only there 1 year, but he shot a career-high 43% from 3. Otherwise, a career 37% shooter.

Joe Johnson is the only real anomaly, and i didn't mention him because of that. He's for real.

Zach is a volume scorer who doesn't make his team better.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
A team's success is based disproportionately on its top-end talent. A team's top three players matter more than the next five or six. Losing Bayless would hurt, but I think it's worth the chance to upgrade the Big Three. I didn't think that would be possible, but I don't think anyone foretold, a few months ago, Amare being available. Trading depth to upgrade your top three or four players is generally a wise move.

How is that different than Amare? He's a volume scorer and has been very public that he wants to be THE MAN on a team. He wants to be a #1 like Kobe, Lebron, Wade.

I'm sorry but Amare is not worth Lamarcus. We get near same production from Lamarcus who plays in a much slower paced offense and doesn't have a world class PG dishing it to him. To top it off Lamarcus plays defense while Amare is one of the worst defenders in the league. We might as well bring Z-bo back.

Amare's production has gone way down this year since he's been in a half-court set and has to create his own shot more often. Amare is much better as a finisher in a fast paced offense than in a slow half paced one like ours.

Greed for a lack of a better....

word is good unless it burns the whole team down in the making. Amare is an allstar that wants to be the man on the next team he goes to and has said it more than once in the press. If KP does this deal he will kill this teams chemistry in one fell swoop.

Roy is our allstar and Oden is next. Amare would divide this team for his own game.

Not a smart trade! This is a deal Trader BOB would make, not a manager looking to make a solid hub of players for the future as KP has said time and time again for a championship run!
