I think Turiaf just earned Nelly's trust in these last few stints. The ball moves around when he's in the game. Assuming no trades are made, I bet we'll see some Turiaf, Beidrins next to each other.
Yeah we don't have a PG but Amare isn't Kenyon Martin. Hes a beast on the pick and roll but he can score by himself as well, he has a jumpshot, he'll make guys better like CohanHater said. Where do people get the idea that Amare prefers playing PF to C? I can't remember a quote of him saying that but I could have easily missed that. And by all accounts hes been miserable playing PF so far after D'Antoni left. The best years of his career have been at C so that wouldn't be that much of a problem though it would be nice to have a dirty work C next to him. Exactly. This is what I'm trying to say. Amare is a dominant player. You might disagree with me on that but look at what hes done in the playoffs, remember the Suns were extremely close to winning the WCF over the Spurs but Amare and Marion (I think Marion was the other guy) stepped on the baseline and got suspended. Yeah, he probably benefits from a good PG but why not get Amare now and worry about getting a pass first PG and dumping Mags and Craw later? How many opportunities do you have to get a guy as good as Amare? We've been begging for one since Webber left. Am I the only one who thinks Monta/Biedrins as centerpieces aren't going to be a winning tandem in the future? Maybe if Randolph pans out there's hope but will any of them be as good as Amare? I say do what you must to get Amare, then surround him with talent once you have him. Right now we're stock piling guys who are just good, we need players who are great.
What gives you any reason to think that they won't be a winning tandem? All they have ever done is improve their game every year in their relatively short stint in the NBA. This is their first year marked as "franchise" players and obviously, Monta has been out most of the time. You're ready to dump all the hopes for 1 1/2 seasons of Amare with the possibility of re-signing him? Well, to give you the benefit of the doubt, I would be willing to let Monta go. As others have mentioned, while his excitement and athleticism can't be replaced, his production can. Biedrins has way too many intangibles to simply include him in trade talks. He's a legitimate NBA center that works hard, never complains, and stays within his game. Amare + Biedrins. Now you're talking.
the biggest issue is amare's contract...is there anyway that we can pick him up in a trade with the stipulation that he extends/renegotiates his contract with us? i'd be very tempted to give up monta for amare if we could lock down amare for 5 seasons. i just don't see why he'd want to resign with us in 1.5 years when i'm sure he could have a better title shot with someone else.
