How the eff do you bash Amare for "not being in our window" without knowing how old he is? How do you bash a guy for microfracture when you're starting Oden? Look, I don't want to trade LMA for Amare, either, but be a professional journalist, man. "Because Deng is BYC, you would have to give up more than he's worth, and that would be too much"-Quick This is hurtful to listen to. "They need the Ime Udoka and Kurt Thomas type player, not the big splash" "They're looking for a sweetheart deal like Gasol last year, b/c Memphis wanted to save money" "I would say no to John Salmons, but the Blazers might want Marion" At 5:39, he does not know if LMA or Blake is playing at 7:00 tonight. "I think a real nice fit for this team is Allen Iverson. he's a veteran, plays hard, willing to accept being the 2nd or 3rd fiddle to Brandon and LMA" "Kevin didn't exactly embrace that, but he didn't pooh-pooh it. I think they'll look at that over the summer"
Some of that definitely sounds sketch. Especially given the other rumors out on the internet. Someone is getting fed some serious BS or isn't checking their facts.
I was watching the Denver/Orlando game so I missed that segment on Comcast. Sounds like the unintentional comedy with Quick was off the charts; sad I missed it. Ed O.
That would be such a waste if we gave up RLEC and others for Iverson... wth, I still can't get over Quick thinking that's a good idea.
The guys did think that he was kidding. I sure hope Quick was joking around about AI. He's the LAST player you'd want on this team.
That last line is amazingly funny. It's always hilarious when a person is so oblivious to being humoured that he broadcasts the humouring as quiet agreement. Embarrassing.
You may not like Quick's opinion, but giving more credence to "Internet rumors" is really silly folks. This guy has contacts that we don't, plain and simple, like it or not.
Well, think about AI this way, The Blazers would recoup almost all of the lost cap space represented by Darius coming back on the books, which would put us back in seriously good shape for free agency this summer. But as for AI having an immediate impact on the court, our perimeter defense would suck even harder than it does already, and there's a good chance we don't make the playoffs. This deal might be palatable to detroit? http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=1994~454~366&teams=8~8~22&te=&cash= Pure salary dump and the Pistons get not only major financial savings, but also have the option of letting Blake go at season's end if they'd rather not keep him as a backup for Stuckey. On the flip side we get a little more cap relief than we would otherwise with just Raef expiring and have the opportunity to spend somewhere in the neighborhood of 17 million over the summer (guys like Childress, Turkoglu, Sessions, Bibby, Andre Miller, lopsided trades ... take your pick.) I guess it all comes down to opportunity cost; is possibly missing the playoffs worth the price to be a much bigger player in the off-season? I'm fifty-fifty on that.
Portland is seriously lacking a quality sports writer. I read stuff here from people I disagree with that is still higher quality and more insightful that anything from JQ and JC.
Well, there goes the credibility of the mega-ultra-awesome PG/SF deal from an Eastern conference team.
Yeah I thought the same thing ... makes me wonder if the "deal" he heard about, that supposedly puts us over the top, is a combo of Jamal Tinsley and Mike Dunleavy jr.
