http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=516577 An article from Sean Deveney talking about why players like Caron Butler, Tyson Chandler and Amare Stoudamire might be on the move this trade deadline. "A lot of the names you hear in trade talks you wouldn't have heard six months ago," one Eastern Conference general manager said. "There's a little bit of panic. No one wants to be a taxpayer, and the trade deadline is the last chance to get under the [tax threshold]. There are franchise players who can be had."
Maybe KP will pull off a shocker and bring in Butler for RLEC and peanuts... even though we think Caron is off limits, who knows?
something like this (Gasol trade) has always been the hope. Thats about the level of player it would take for me to want to move RLEC STOMP
I guess this was the point I was trying to make by posting that article. Most likely, in any trade the Blazers make they might not need to send equal talent or young promising players out. Channing Frye is expiring, Steve Blake is expiring, if teams are desperate to get under the Tax threshold, perhaps a package of expiring contracts is all that it would take to get a high level player. If other teams are desperate to cut payroll, who better to snatch up good deals but KP and Allen. They do it yearly during the draft!
Keep praying that our great leaders of congress will continue to delay any plan - stimulus - bailout etc. for afew more days and the stock market to tank. If this happens we will very likely get a very good player for that contract. Go KP and Blazers!!!!!!!!!!!! A Valentine gift from your Congressmen!
You think the market is going to rally once this bill is passed? Have you noticed what the market has done since the President started pushing it on Monday, and did you see what happened when the "compromise" was reached?
I think that's what KP is holding out for. I'm sure he's had offers, I'm sure he's probably even had decent offers, but I think he's waiting until zero hour for that one deal... the creme de la creme.
