Re: Why should I watch when they don't give 100%... A couple of friends and I got into a dicussion today about team loyalty. Now I am loyal to one team, the Milwaukee Bucks. I do not switch teams like some people do, I don't like star players like other people do. My friend Tom who registered here is with me that since the team is not playing as hard as it should that we shouldn't bother to watch or go to games but my other friend Russ says it's 'being a fairweather fan'. It's been a bad season for the Bucks, we are now under .500 and we play no defense and show little intensity, we have no leader on the court, nobody who plays hard nosed defense. I have tried to watch but I can't. I expect these guys to give it their best, they only play for 3 hours every couple of nights. If I don't feel like my team is playing 100% why should I bother to watch? Am I a crappy fan for having high standards? On the way home I was listening to sports radio and they were talking about Japanese media and how it's considered a disgrace to go on a bad streak and not play as hard as you can. The Japanese media is like Boston and New York times 10 in terms of getting on teams. The fans are the same and won't tolerate it. This really hit me and I have this same attitude. I realize the Bucks weren't going to be anything special this year, they are a young team with a pretty average coach but I expected this young team to play with some fire and try harder but they don't. I love the Bucks but in any relationship both sides have to be in it for it to work...
Re: Why should I watch when they don't give 100%... Sounds like your gonna wait til they play better then watch them. Which is sorta like a fairweather fan.
Re: Why should I watch when they don't give 100%... Why should I waste my time watching a team play half <Censored> defense?...I'm not going to sit and cheer for a bunch of guys who play half <Censored>.

Re: Why should I watch when they don't give 100%... Welcome to the Los Angeles Lakers of 2006. I kept on watching as Gino, finely and others owned our invisible D tonight. If you're a fan you watch.
Re: Why should I watch when they don't give 100%... jeff van gundy was talking about the rockets not wanting to win bad enough and it changed them i think..i don't know if they want that last playoff spot as much as i do.
Re: Why should I watch when they don't give 100%... Instead of posting the same stupid, 'your a fan you have to watch' crap, explain to be why I should waste 3 hours watching half <Censored> basketball.
Re: Why should I watch when they don't give 100%... BECAUSE IT'S CALLED <Censored> TEAM LOYALTY.If you've decided not to watch then you're not a real fan. Find a new team.
Re: Why should I watch when they don't give 100%... If the Bucks don't play hard I don't watch them, it's not about the losing, i'm used to it. I just wish they'd act like they give a damn going down instead of playing like losers.

Re: Why should I watch when they don't give 100%... I would rather let a group of gay men have their way with me with no condoms than watch the Lakers.
Re: Why should I watch when they don't give 100%... But then you "Kobe is" Kobe is that. Do you even watch the lakers?

Re: Why should I watch when they don't give 100%... Great post. I think you are very correct in your statements that it is near impossible to watch games when they just go through the motions. That is why I lvoe playoff time, because each team gives it 110% every night and you see what kind of player they really are.
Re: Why should I watch when they don't give 100%... Regardless of how they're playing, it you're a true fan, you should watch. But really, what the hell happened to Bobby Simmons?

The Bucks, despite not great defense are very good in the post, on both sides of the court and compared to last year, they are having a great year. How do you think I put up with the Raptors defense? No matter how low are team is, I will always be there for them, supporting them. That's just the level of fan I am for any sport. I also find it fun to watch a team that isn't playing well and watching them try to improve and rebuild. That's just the way I am. If the Raps ever win the title I might stop watching them until they rebuild again. If you are a fan where you only root for a team if they are doing well, then I don't have anything against that but I'd rather be a fan of a rebuilding team then a team like the Pistons. I feel it gets quite boring if your team is playing almost perfect ball. I like to ge for the underdog and see if they can defy odds. That's just my theory of a sports fan.
Re: Why should I watch when they don't give 100%... what kind of fan stops watching them because they lose? try being a knicks fan for the last 5 years. i still watch them. a true fan watches their team regardless of their record. that's something called loyalty. obviously bcb is a frontrunner because he'll only watch the bucks when they win. i still watch the knicks cuz i'm a loyal fan you should try it sometime.
Re: Why should I watch when they don't give 100%... I have not stopped watching them because they lose, I have stopped watching them because they don't play hard and don't act like they give a damn.
