The Lakers hold a team option for him next season for $736K, but with the recent acquisitions of Morrison and Brown, do you think Sun Yue can make the roster next season?

He's probably done, I don't see why we have to rely on this pet project who hasn't shown us anything yet.

Sure he could become better down the line, but who knows how many players want to give us discounts? Especially if we're the champs. I'm not sure we can waste the roster spot.

I don't think he has any potential in the NBA. He is rail thin. I want to see what Shannon Brown can do.

I doubt he makes the roster next year. With the acquisition of Shannon Brown, we really don't need him. Brown, at this point, is a much better 3rd string PG and probably has more potential anyways. Plus, why waste a roster spot on a guy who's never going to touch the court anyways? Seems pointless.

Sun Yue has potential, but just can't play in the NBA right now. Needs some D-League.

Everyone in life has potential. Sun Yue's is just very limited.

Sun Yue needs a lot more than the NBDL right now. For one, he needs to gain some weight and muscle. The dude is rail thin with very little muscle. He would be destroyed if he had to play big minutes at this level. I think it's best for him to just go back overseas and make a career over there, and maybe try and come back to the NBA once he A) gets the body for it and B) gets the game for it.

Sun Yue was good in the Olympics, maybe he just needs experience and more playing time? What if he got traded to another team where he could get into the rotation?

Just because he looks weak and skinny as hell, or looks terrified whenever he enters the court doesnt mean he can't live up to his potential. Not everyone can manage to shrug off the pressure right away.

Seriously... with what i saw in the Olympics... he has enough talent to take Sasha's spot in the rotation. he can shoot the ball... he just needs confidence.

Obviously the confidence he had in the olympics is not present right now... he just needs to relax, after all its not just a new team and teammates, its a new country and environment for him.

The dude played all heart against the USA knockin' down 3's against the like of Kobe and LeBron and even blocking DWIGHT! How many guards can say they've done that? Thats right... very few.

Give him AT LEAST A YEAR with the team and 1 full summer in between seasons.

BTW, why do we even want him to produce? it's not like the Lakers depend on his production hahaha... i think he's there as a future asset. imagine IF he suddenly breaks out... thats a 6'8 PG were talking about. our starting 5 would be 6'8 - 6'6 - 6'10 - 7'0 - 7'0

A lot of people play well in the Olypmics, but their game doesn't translate into the NBA. Sun Yue has shown nothing, when he was in the NBDL, I don't remember him doing much either. The only thing he has is size, and honestly, that's not gonna take him anywhere if the rest of his game doesn't improve. He is way too weak, he doesn't have good foot speed, his point guard skills is not good at all (ball handling is pretty bad), doesn't play D, can't score etc.

If we're talking about potential, there are plenty of players with potential. I'd rather them put the time they are spending on Yue and use it elsewhere, maybe in developing Shannon Brown or Joe Crawford, who has been dominating the D-League.
