From O-Live: What the Blazers want: A veteran, defensive-minded point guard or small forward. The Blazers' roster is packed with young talent, but a veteran would bring leadership, help a push toward the playoffs and take some pressure off of Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge and Greg Oden. Caron Butler: Wizards are desperate to shed salary and his deal is easier for another team to swallow than the longer-term deals of Antawn Jamison or Gilbert Arenas. Butler would be a good fit and Washington would like LaFrentz's contract (plus young players), but would Portland want Butler's contract? Chris Bosh: One of the best power forwards in the game, Bosh is averaging nearly a double double this season, at 22.7 points and 9.5 rebounds. Would Pritchard include Aldridge in a deal for Bosh? If not, a deal is unlikely. Amar'e Stoudemire: Phoenix appears ready to rebuild, but still will want value for a star big man. DOES THE DEAL WORK FOR THE BLAZERS? The Oregonian: No. He fits the old culture, not the new one. (These talks have reportedly come and gone anyway.) More here.
Butler doesn't have that bad of a contract. He has two more years at $9-10 mil per. I think that's pretty reasonable for a guy that caliber. The O is disappointing me..
I kinda think Geoffrey C. Arnold doesn't know who the hell Butler is. 20.5 pts/6.2 rebs/4.1 asts and the dude makes an extremely reasonable $10 mil.
Let me get this straight, Caron Butler is a one of the premier small forwards in the league, is a veteran, only 28, is a good guy, is a 3 tool player (passes, defends, scores) and he is under contract for less than 10 million a year this year and tops out at 10.8 million in two years and that's a "bad" contract? Good God, the quality of coverage from the "O" is really disappointing the hell out of me lately.
Butler is ideal. If the Wizards are happy with Jamison at SF then i think it is a no brainer for them as well. But if i am the Wisards I want to get rid of Jamison's contract instead. Plus with Butler we would have to take another player as well.
To answer the O's question...Yes, Portland would be happy to "absorb" Caron Butler's Exorbitant Contract (CBEC)
you i a, starting to think the O has turned on the blazers again......quicks chat declarion we lose, Cannedhamzanos article, this lazy ass post....sean being bullied by quick refusing to talk anything others than blah blah blah topics.
We'll give you Stephen Jackson if you send Raef to the desert along with our young-uns for Amare to come to GS. Captain Jack has championship experience, plays very solid defense, hes a tough SOB, doesn't take any shit, bitches at the refs constantly (I know you guys need some of this based on last night's rapeage by the officials), hes one of 4 players in the league averaging 20/5/6. Hes turned around his image in a massive way and hes a great locker room presence, Tim Duncan said hes the "ultimate teammate", Popovic loves him, Nellie loves him, hell even Sarunas Jasikevicius said he was the only true teammate he played with in the U.S. or something to that effect. Don't let the FG% scare you though, it'll go up playing next to guys like Roy, Aldridge, etc. and with a true PG like Blake. Hes friggen money with his feet set shooting 3's too so hes actually al ot better than his 34% 3 pt %age suggests. All this and more (what else do you want? Azu? Turiaf? we don't care!) can be yours for one easy payment of a tall white scrub with an expiring contract!
