Mixum... I agree we should upgrade via trade if the right opportunity comes along, but we are in 4th place right now and we got here with the current roster. If we don't make a deal there is no reason to think the sky is going to fall. Sure we could miss the playoffs, but we could also get home court advantage! Also, have you ever thought of the possibility that if we do make a deal we could actually drop in the standings?

Hey MIXUM, have you ever tried pulling your car into the garage, leaving it running, shutting the garage door behind you, and cracking the car window for a nice, long nap?

Give it a shot. I think you'll feel a lot better.

    Same old shit...different day.

Small Forward isn't one of our weaknesses. I don't know why so many think we need a star at every position. If anything, play Batum more.

Only 10 teams score more pts. from their SF position...only 8 teams have better net production from their SF position...and only 7 teams have a better PER from their SF position.

That doesn't sound like a problem to me.

One thing about this debate really puzzles me.

People keep refering to the fact that the teams right behind us in the standings have their own problems - which is true. But why is that a reason/excuse to stand pat? It seems to me that that is a strong argument to be aggressive and try to take advantage of the situation!

Only if it's a great trade for the future of the team and not short term for this years playoffs.

first im glad to see a few posters have actual knowledge of whats wrong with our team. It also nice to hear someone ask why everyone is so obsessed with other teams problems and injurys. HOW BOUT WE WORRY ABOUT US GETTING A TOP 6 SEED? The problem is...we could be a lot better and only need a few moves which are out there to be made. Its really a case of our gms ego being scared to make a deal and see his little lotto picks end up on someone else's bench. I mean, nows our chance to solidify our playoff spot. Not next year. Can any of you really sit here and say its ok to miss the playoffs? I mean do you wanna hear Nate and Kp tell us all summer " well the goal is playoffs" but come January say the usual shit like well we just need more time to grow??? Sorry im sick of it. ITS TIME TO DEAL FOR A LEGIT 3rd option.

What are we gonna draft another kid who needs 5 years to devlop???? I mean the only player on this team thats doing anything is roy. without roy we dont win 15 games. hes really all we have. people on here dont like to hear the truth and thats why im called a troll.

Wow. That's some pure-grade hatred. I can only imagine what you say to people who actually do evil things, rather than just posting an innocent opinion on a message board.

They call you a troll because you make rediculous statements as facts. Roy's all we have?

The truth of the matter is we are a very young team with a great winning percentage that will make the playoffs but not do very well because we haven't learned to play a full game yet. Once we learn to give 4th quarter effort from tip off...then we will be a great team.

In Mixum's defense, if the Blazers can upgrade at the SF especially, they should certainly do it. If the Blazers could land Jefferson or Butler for RLEC/Travis/Serg type combo, I say do it.

gee i dont know HCP...ask barret so he can tell you GS was "just hot last night"

maybe we have a 3 game lead over a team who has more talent then us on the roster? Or how about the fact we got our asses kicked by OKC and GS. How about it took a buzzer beater to beat the knicks at home? how about being down by double digits 4 games in a row or 4 out of 5. Thats not concerning?

Maybe you do hang out with barrett too much? everythings fine pal. batum is giving us so much at the SF position. outlaws defense improves every night. sergios 3 is really coming around.

ever see the movie major league.... i think harry doyle would be a great commentator for the blazer fans who dont get it.

Obviously we are not playing great right now. But if we had a veteran laden team (like the Suns) for example the expectations should be higher............ but we don't! We are the youngest team in the league god damnit! How do you not realize this! How does this NOT sink in that we have NO experience on the squad! This is how a young squad gets better. Is by going through the grind and the ups and downs of the season. Quit analyzing them as a squad full of vets! Who the fuck are you and how can you call yourself a Blazer fan? And trust me, just because I work for the team means my opinion of them is biased or tainted. I was raised in N.E. Portland as a Blazer fan BY Blazer fans! Don't think because I'm boys with MB that I don't bring it! Your shit is old! Go away!

Among lawyers, there is a wonderful expression: "an argument that proves too much!"

If lack of experience is the problem, and we have assets which are expendable (which we do), why not go after a guy with enough experience to help the team?

You decry Mixum for being a pessimist - but you are the one implying our problems are insolvable.

I NEVER said our problems can't be solved. It takes time for players to mature and teams to gel. We are on our way to winning 50+ games with a young-ass team. Some peoples expectations on here are crazy!

Why frustrating? Circumstances change. No one could have predicted the level of chaos with the Suns, or the epidemic of injuries that have hit western conference contenders.

At the begining of the season, playing for the 8th seed was a reasonable goal. We now have the chance to exceed that goal.

Before the season started, Denver was widely predicted to be the play-off team that would collapse. Instead, they are playing for a top 3 seed. I guess you could say they decided to be unreasonable! :pimp:
