So Reinsdorf talked him out of quitting. That sounds about right considering what he originally said about his trust in Pax on Monsters in the Morning.

Well gee, glad we could keep him around as a lame duck for the rest of the year. That'll make things better.

And by that, I mean that'll make things worse. Shit.

I mean, loyalty is good and all, but everything I've heard is that Pax has been clutched in the fetal position for close to a year now. How about you do everyone a favor and let him quit so we can get this show moving again.

Speaking of loyalty getting in the way of business, did all of the Chicago beat reporters really get jumped on this story by a writer from NY who only occasionally follows basketball? Guess so.

Also on said subject... anyone else notice that a noted completely independent journalist who just happens to write for the Chcago Bulls but is in no way influenced by that fact has reported nothing on the Amare trade or this in days?

They need to hire Andrew, he'd set the journalistic direction on the right path.

I agree with Mike. It's sad too. I saw Paxson as such a smart man. Unfortunately, his basketball decisions are just not that good. I think his biggest failure was firing Skiles and hiring Del Negro. Regardless if the players didn't like Skiles, they played better under him and he motivated players to play. Most of all, Skiles teams played defense. Oh well...

Except when they stopped playing D last year and Skiles quit...

They were too close to the story IMHO. I guess they didn't really want to take a hard look at Pax being all stressed out given the story must only adding be to his stress. Hanley was only too happy to jump in once it broke.

Or Vecsey pulled most of it out of his ass like he did two weeks ago reporting Pax would be fired, which couldn't have been further from the truth.

Even the local reporters and sources that were trying to make it sound as if it weren't true were saying things like "he was considering resigning" and he was probably going to take a "different role" or it was a matter of timing and whatnot.

I'd be pretty surprised if he's the GM next year. My guess is it wasn't a sure thing he was going to leave over the all-star break (the timing seemed very odd) but that he's definitely going to leave, and they possibly set it back a bit based on the timing. But obviously that's just my guess.
