He wanted his rest so bad that he made sure he had a bone chip fracture in his knee. Makes sense. Now, this could be not a big deal. But, it could be.
Oden didn't sound too concern in his comments to Arnold in the Oregonian. He's still going home to Indianapolis instead of back to Portland. I think if it is was big or very concerning they would have had him return to Portland to get doctors opinions etc.
