Olowokandi also got thos stats while playing 28.4 minutes per game on a 9-41 team(strike year). He had a 43% FG%, hell he had to take 8.9 FGAs per game to score his 8.9 points.

    Comparing the two is ludicrous.

I guess me saying Olowokandi in my post wasn't obvious enough, but player A is the Kandi-man in his rookie year.

ding ding ding... good call. Oden is averaging 20% less minutes per game then MO did his rookie year. He's shooting 57% and his young team is 32-20. He's also 2 years younger and of course coming off of a major knee surgery/missed a year so rust is expected.
they can be compared but obviously player B/Greg is doing a lot better if you add context and don't pick and chose only the close stats.

on another note, my career averages stack up well against the numbers Greg posted last year. Should we all do the :NOTMARIS: dance now?

I love these threads. The Oden haters have run rampant. Obviously the Kandi man was the better player. Get rid of Oden now. He's an underachieving waste of space in the paint.

Just remember that we were very LUCKY to be in a position to draft either of them. Oden is going to be very good. Maybe not the next David Robinson or Bill Russell, as he was hyped up to be, but he's already had a positive impact with his inside scoring and rebounding.

Look at what he averages when he gets at least 26 minutes. About 16 and 10. His averages are really deflated because he's had so many games where he's done basically nothing due to foul trouble.

I expect that as he matures, he'll become much more consistent, and every aspect of his game will improve. If he's putting up 16 and 10, not even playing full starter minutes, as a 20 year old rookie coming off a year of rehab...that's pretty impressive when you think about it.

In that case we should trade Oden for Randy Foye since Foye's per-game stats are comparable but better than Kobe's second year.

How about a moratorium on both complaints and excuses? Some days, I would trade the kid to a team in Iceland just to put an end to this argument! :smiley-bonk:
