Yao Ming is the best center in the NBA.Shaq's defense is horrible, i feel bad for him actually. His offense isnt even that great, the guy is going down hill.Yao ming on the other hand is the better defender than Yao, plays better defense and is a good offensive player. His a <Censored> sometimes when taking charges from point guards but my point stands. If Shaq can up his game in the playoffs [unlikey because he's like 34 now and he's season and playoff averages are the same] then maybe i'll reconsider. But for now Yao has taken his place.
I'd agree, although Yao still isn't the player he should be, and extremely soft. He still needs to prove a ton to me, but this season he has really be showing some major improvement, so I can safely say he is the ebst in the league. If you consider Amare a center, then I'd say he is the best, though.
He did play some center last year, though. That is why I said if you consider him a center. I agree he isn't a true center, so i stand by Yao being the best center in the league, but if you do consider Amare a center, it is Amare for sure.
I'd take Ben Wallace any day of the week over Yao Ming. Give me Ben, then Shaq, Yao, Camby...and this is coming from someone who hates Shaq more than any single individual on the face of the Earth, even when he was a Laker.
It depens on the team system. Yao is the better play than Ben wallace. Wallace's D is overrated, he isn't even the best man to man defender on his team. On offense Ben wallace is trash, absolutely trash. He's freethrow shooting is abysmal, Yao ois a great freethrow shooter from the line. This season Yao has been the best center in the league.
yao has been the best center since after the all-star break. before that camby was getting all the praise until he went down. i think yao needs to beef up a bit so he can really dominate. for someone of his size he needs to avg. more than just 9-10 rebounds. you can't really compare yao to shaq because of the point in time they are in each's career. compare yao to the unstoppable shaq and it's no contest. you don't know how amare will being coming off his injury. c-webb had the same injury and he has never been the same.
Why does everyone say Yao needs to average more rebounds? First people say his not averaging a double double. He is now and now that isnt' enough. There's too many haters on this board.
No way in hell Big Ben is better than Yao. His offense is garbage and extremely inconsistent, defensively he is better but Yao is 2nd best defensive center in L, and Yao is a great rebounder and only averaged 2 less. When you are that bad on offense, you simply can't be better than someone who is the best offensive center in L who also has great defense and rebounding. As for Shaq, I want to see him get healthy before anything. He has started to really play great, but I believe Woody Paige on Arounf the Horn said today only 4x has Shaq had 3 or more straight games of more than 20 points. He has been really inconsistent on offense this year, has been hurt all year, and is not as good defensively as Yao.

He's still got time to improve, remember he's still a <Censored> and is always in foul trouble. If he played more minutes he's stats would go higher/

Camby would have something to say about that.Ben has more playoff experience, championship experience, strength, stamina, he's healthier, far better on defense, and he has averaged 10 a game with Billups, Rip, Sheed and Prince on his team...all scoring before Ben gets his touches. Plus, Ben is shooting 50.9% from the field...and Ming is at 50.8%...and yes, I do consider the amount of shots Yao takes vs. Wallace, but you're calling Big Ben a terrible offensive player.

Same with ben and most centers, really. Yao actually does very well on upper tier centers.Ben's points come from easy alley oop's or drop off's which result in dunks. He has not reliable post up move and is terrible shooter and free throw shooter. Yao is a good shooter from 5-10ft, has MANY post up moves, and great free throw shooter. Ben is also undersized, which hurts when he plays a tall offensive player. So defensively, Yao and Ben aren't too far apart.
Ben is a horible offensive players. Most of his shots are dunks or off offensive rebounds. How many plays are made for him where he gets the ball and takes his man? None.Secondly were talking about this year, not previous years.
How many plays are made up for Ben? Exactly.Ben sucks at free throws? So does Shaq..and he's a better offensive player than Yao.Ben's points are always off dunks or offensive boards? Same with O'Neal.Draw up the plays, get Big Ben involved, and I'm pretty sure he can score 12-14 a game...which isn't far from 20 PPG to consider it terrible.
But you're assuming stuff. I'm talking about reality.Reggie miller could've scored 30 if he shot more. Is that an excuse for him not scoring more? No. No-one stopped him from shooting more.
no because ben wallace has a crap offense game.they give him the DOY because that's all he can do is play defense. he has no offensive game whatsoever and he airs freethrows. he needs to get into the BASKETBALL gym more and not the weightroom and work on his damn shot. it's embarassing seeing an NBA player AIR A FREETHROW. the easiest shot in the game. that's why it's called a freethrow- they're free points for the taking.this year yao could be the best center in the league, offensively.i will admit camby beats him defensively because camby is a beast.and ben wallace is horrible, i'd take BRAD MILLER over ben wallace.
