In the sense that the contests dont truly mean much, yes I agree. What I dont like is that these types of contest are avoided by the big name stars. The ones who REALLY should be in these types of competitions. I mean if Ray Allen isnt in a 3pt contest....
I agree with you DaRizzle, it's mostly sucked, but I find it so hard to even care -- even Rudy getting the WWE treatment in the dunk contest.
I agree, the whole AS weekend was kind of boring and nothing that made you go WOW or have that holy shit moment that made you remember this year. But I don't think it is the worst of all-time. The NBA has kind of dropped the ball on the dunk contest. They keep hyping it up every year that's "it's back, the dunk contest is back!" They've said that for the past 10 years it seems like. But just four competitors, and two rounds? That's pretty lame.. Just when you know it, it's over before it really gets started.
AS weekend = WWE event at this point. HORS...sorry GEICO sucked big time, starting with changing the name. Shootout wasn't really about who could shoot the best but who could get lucky from half court. Skills challenge was lame and uneventful. 3pt contest had a bunch of nobody's in it and none of them could shoot. Dunk contest was fixed from the start. Everything you heard leading up to it was all about Howard (who won on a nice shot not a dunk last year) vs. the midget that thinks he's actually worth something. in ten years nate won't be remembered for being anything more than harold miner. and now the game itself, what was the #1 storyline, shaq and kobe together again. with kobe chucking up every shot he saw and guys running away from shaq when he had the ball, the "co-mvps" were handed to them. it would make me ill if i actually cared, i guess i did care but this year killed that in a hurry. i'll add this, the PA guy could have done the worst job EVER, and what's with introducing the reserves by position, then they pull the curtain back and the starters are all standing together. LAME.

i'll agree on that, shaq is a fun loving guys but i don't care about these freaking dancers. why the hell are they everywhere now? i mean they won a crappy MTV dance off and now they are being sponsored by Gatorade and are dancing at the AS game.
