Lets try this again. Apparently my first attempt was an epic failure. Lets see if im any closer Minny Out: Mike Miller Minny In: George Hill, Stromile Swift, 2nd Rd. Pick via SA NJ Out: Vince Carter, Stromile Swift NJ In: Roger Mason, Francisco Oberto, Bruce Bowen, Mike Miller SA Out: Roger Mason, George Hill, Francisco Oberto, Bruce Bowen, 2nd Rd. Pick SA In: Vince Carter This isnt originally my idea so i cant take credit for it. SA gets the star, NJ gets 2 very good swingmen and cut Oberto and Bowen to return to SA before the playoffs and we get cap savings, a promising young rookie PG that i think would fit well with Foye and a 2nd round pick that we can at least attempt to package to move up with the Boston pick or something.
I guess an all-star just isnt enough? http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/57240/20090214/carter_to_spurs_heating_up/ Thats exactly what is happening here, only New Jersey is sending us Swift for Miller.
San Antonio is stupid to trade for Carter at all. Sending out Mason and Hill is just retarded. I'll bet my life this is just a rumor, no way is Buford that stupid.
Its all rumors till something actually happens, since GM's rarely come out and say whats going on behind closed doors. I dont necessarily agree with trading for VC from the Spurs perspective either but thats the rumor and im just trying to get Minny in on the goods.
A couple things.... -I understand the Swift and his contract...sort of....if it was all about contract...they could just hold on to Miller since his contract ends next year anyway....besides...after the big names all get signed in 2010...that cap space can be used on players that trickle down. -Why the hell would Minnesota want and undersized SG in Hill (6'2") makes no sense to me -with San Antonio's pick going in the end of round somewhere...why would we want thier 2nd Round pick....if Miller was going out in a trade 'Sota would want the 1st Rounder....not another 2nd rounder (we already have two of Miami's 2nd rounders) -Even if we took Swift in the deal for cap....we would have to get back at least a 1st Rounder from someone...and the young player would have to be a big...not and undersized SG....we're thin in the frontcourt...not the back
But our chances are better at getting a PG in the draft than a center....so we need to use our valuable trading pieces to aquire a center through trade....with our picks we can easily draft our future PG. Besides, we already tried the "Raw at PG" scenerio...and both Jaric and Foye really didn't work...time to go after an actually Point Guard
