Um, not feeling it. Camby is old. Kaman is injured and average. Doesn't bring the same excitement as Amare.
I'm not a huge fan of Kaman, but if we're going to go there, I look at the Clippers and start thinking crazy stuff. Like... "How would a Baron Davis / Derrick Rose backcourt look? Like, just for argument's sake, suppose we traded Kirk+Hughes for Camby+Baron. Saves them money in the long-run, and it might be lots of fun for us to watch. 1- Rose 34, Baron 14 2- Baron 20, Gordon 28 3- Deng 34, Thabo 14 4- Amare 34, Noc 14 5- Camby 28, Noah 20
You'd pretty much have to kidnap D'Antoni or get Paul Westphal to coach because that team would lose any game where it didn't score 125 points.
You've got all the makings of a good defensive team there with Camby and Noah up front (Noah as Camby's apprentice to learn how to hit an elbow jumper and defender stronger guys). Deng and Thabo as the solid defenders. They'd be fine. Amare and Davis, when motivated, (a la playoffs), can be very strong.
I'm not a fan of Kamen but I do like Camby. I wouldn't give up a whole bunch for him. I think the best bet is to try get Amare.
Agree 100%. Camby's a stopgap at this point. Way better than Gooden, but still. I'm not huge on Kaman either. He makes pretty close to Amare, especially when you figure in the trade kicker he's got, and he's about 1/3 of the player.
Don't know what his trade kicker would make it, but his numbers are about two-thirds of Amare's and his salary is only two-thirds, too. And he doesn't get to play with Nash and he rebounds better. But he does seem to get hurt and have a terrible fg% for a big man.
