I don't see how we can arrange a trade for anyone meaningful. Our roster, as is, isn't the most trade friendly in the world. It would have to be Scal + TA for some low cost guy. Most likely, we're just making room for Marbury.
We had 15 guys (the max) and we didn't want to cut anybody. We're either gaining an extra player via trade or signing a FA (Marbury?). If not, this move is just weird.
I guess it put the Celtics under the luxury tax, plus the Celtics get a 2nd round pick out of it. Bizarre.
I don't think that's enough of a motive to make the deal, though. Now if anything happens to Rondo, we are completely fucked, as opposed to just being slightly fucked.
The thought crossed my mind, too. I doubt it, though. Ainge basically confirmed what I was thinking. They did it for the roster spot, and he believes players will be bought out after the deadline.
I figured they weren't playing Cassell because they wanted him to be fresh when it came to playoff time. I thought I saw somewhere that Doc planned to start working him into the rotation after the break. I guess I was wrong. I suppose they will evaluate what's out there and perhaps resign him if they can't find something better.
I'm pretty sure he'll be cut by the Kings and then the Celtics will hire him as an assistant to Doc. As for the spot, it's either Marbury, or a trade is happening. (or Ainge is dumb and does nothing) lol
What the hell the pick is for 2015? There's a 13 year old right now who could end up being a Celtic someday.
Haha! That would be incentive for 13 year olds to start working on their game! hahaha! Not too much tho, just enough to be a 2nd round pick hahaha
