You're thinking FA signing only. Being under the cap by $6-8 mil can leave enough room for a decent S&T.

Don't forget the Spurs. Tim Duncan can play until he's like 40 with no effect in his production.

Actually, if I were building my team to compete with Portland in 2 years, Chandler is exactly the kind of piece I'd add. Got to give them props for getting a critical piece they were missing.

This paves the way for the inevitable Chris Paul for Channing Frye, Shavlik Randolph, and Sergio Rodriguez trade.

Aside from Green being more of a PF than SG, then yeah. Add Harden in at SG?

But only after the Raef Lafrentz for Amare Stoudemire trade, and the LaMarcus Aldrdige for Lebron James trade.

or if they sign Ben Gordon, or perhaps even go after a "real" point guard and let Westbrook play shooting guard.

... they're gonna be a tough out for a long while to come.

Green plays power forward (according to espn's depth chart).

    PG - Westbrook
    SG - Kyle Weaver
    SF - Durant
    PF - Green
    C - Chandler
    ---
    F/C - Krstic
    G - whoever
    G/F - Wilkins

Not a bad outlook for next year, little lacking on depth though.

There's about .0000001% chance that its even discussed now (and it wasn't much more than that before the Chandler trade), but I think that, if they wanted to, the Thunder could still land Stoudemire (no, I will not shut up about Amare and OKC):

    http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.php?tradeid=5018529

One expiring deal to Phoenix, one 2010 expiring, and Collison, and toss in a couple of those 1st rounders; Amare to the Thunder. It might work, it might not, depends on if Sarvey-poo is enticed enough by the two 1st rounders in spite of the one medium-sized expiring.

    PG: Westbrook
    SG: Weaver
    SF: Durant
    PF: Stoudemire
    C: Chandler
    --
    F: Green
    F/C: Krstic
    G: Weaver
    F/C: Ibaka
    G/F: Wilkins

    Dayum.

Heh. People have been predicting his downfall almost as long as Fidel Castro, so you won't catch me betting against him.

I just don't think the Spurs can successfully rinse-and-repeat the Duncan/Parker/Ginobili show forever. Great teams like the Billups Pistons and Shaq Lakers and even the Jordan Bulls can only hold it together for only so long. Somebody gets injured, somebody has a precipitous decline, somebody's ego gets out of hand....

The Spurs have been milking a great formula for 10 years now. (8 years, if you count the current Parker/Ginobili iteration). I'm envious. But history shows that even really great franchises have a hard time keeping that kind of a run going.

In only his third game as a pro, Oden put up a double-double in 24 mins while holding Chandler to 2 points.

Although he certainly makes them more formidable in the front court, Chandler should not directly affect us in any way. That said, this was a shrewd move by an up-and-coming GM that not only shows his smarts but also the commitment by their owner.

they've been playing pretty close to .500 for the last month or more without chander. not at all crazy to think they could be a playoff team next year.

I'm suprised that nobody has suggested that the Hornets now want to trade us CP3 and Peja for RLEC, Bayless, Outlaw, . . .

You know I was just looking at CP3's contract situation. He is getting 4.5mil this year and then it jumps up to 13.75mil next year. How do trades like that go down? Is NO just fucked if they want to trade him now? Do they have to wait until summer to trade him at his 13mill value?

    NO Salary situation link

I think you average all his remaining salary figures for each remaining year of the contract, and that becomes his trade value for whatever team is taking him on.

Ex for random player: 4 mil one year, 6 mil next year, 7 mil next year, 11 mil final year. Averages out to 7 mil, that would be the player's salary figure (per year) for trade purposes.

I could very well be wrong though.
