Well, this weekend certainly had it all. Shawn Marion and Jermaine O'Neal were traded, Terry Porter was fired, but they all got overlooked by the All Star Game. Now new reports are out of Tyson Chandler, Amare Stoudemire, Vince Carter, and Wally Szczerbiak all getting traded. How do you guys feel about all these trades and rumors? Do you think any will get traded. To me, it seems certain that Vince Carter will be leaving NJ soon enough, and the Stoudemire rumors seem to be pointing towards him getting traded. If you missed any of this news and want to find out more, here's a good article: http://probuckets.blogspot.com/2009/02/fallout-from-all-star-weekend-trades.html
Personally firing a coach who is one win away from a .500 season record at the halfway mark and only a few wins out of the western conference playoffs seems pretty rediculous. I'm not a fan of Steve Kerr, and I think he can personally be held responsible for the demise of a franchise that was on the rise, and until recently gaining alot of respect and fan base outside of Arizona. Trading amare would be a huge mistake, just as i feel acquiriring jrich was a mistake (caught wreckless drivinng this weekend, 90 in a 35 with his 3 year old in the backseat, no car seat) perhaps candidate for father of the year. Now Phoenix is in a tough spot. Not sure what the answer is, but I think it doesn't involve trading amare. I say roll the dice see how you fare this season and try to clear up some cap space after the playoffs when you've hopefully raised the stock of some of your players by atleast making a descent first round showing.
I think the move was something to say "look, we did something" so they won't have to trade Shaq or Amare. But, it's the one move they could make that probably will affect the team the least.
Well, the Kings just got Sam Cassell from the Celtics for a conditional pick. The Hornets are getting Joe Smith and Chris Wilcox from the Thunder for Tyson Chandler. There are now strong talks of a three team deal with Bosh. We will see how that goes down.
Yeah, I think that pretty much takes them out of contention. Funny how the Nets play the Rockets tonight and the Hornets play the Thunder.
