Probably just being careful. Blazers learned their lesson twice this year with Martell and Blake coming back too soon. Plus it's just the Grizzlies.
I know tonight was their first practice since the break, and probably the first time they've had to see Greg. I was expecting them to sit him if it was still sore, just to be safe. I don't think its anything to worry about, but still it sucks.
I don't know what to think. At one point it was he could play in the rookie-soph game if he really wanted to. Then, not a big deal, just an excuse to rest for a few more day. Then it is he is day to day, but unlikely to miss any action. Now it is, he will miss the Memphis game tomorrow (extra day of rest compared to some othere teams playing tonight). Honestly, I'm afraid to hear the next update . . .
First, the bad news: Oden said the swelling and discomfort in his left knee has not completely subsided and he will not play against the Grizzlies. The rookie starting center, who suffered a chip in his knee cap Thursday at Golden State when he banged knees with Corey Maggette, is listed day-to-day. Oden is expected to meet with team doctors Wednesday for further examination, but he will miss his seventh game this season, not including the Rookie Challenge he was unable to play in during All-Star weekend in Phoenix. Oden missed six games earlier this season after spraining his right foot in the season opener. "I'll get past this; it's no problem," Oden said. "I wasn't happy to hear about it at all. (But) I feel that it won't take that long for me to get back out there." Oden originally told reporters in Phoenix that he probably would have played over the weekend if it were a regular season game. But he changed his stance on Tuesday, saying his knee remained "tight" and "swollen." Oden, who missed his entire rookie season because of microfracture surgery on his right knee, said he will continue light therapy and ice treatment. anyone else ready for bad news tomorrow???????????? Blazers coach Nate McMillan said Joel Przybilla will start in Oden's place and Channing Frye will assume backup duties.
Even better is the fact Nate will move Bayless back to the bench in favor of Sergio. Are you fucking kidding me? Nate gets harder to defend every day.
Freeman also said that Sergio returns as the backup, leaving Jerryd out. Yeah right, I wonder how long that'll last as Bayless gets the second-half minutes over Sergio.
If there was ever a time when Sergio is being showcased, it's tomorrow against the Grizz. I wouldn't be shocked if he played more minutes than his average.
Definately think this is the case. Blazer's are going to be making a move, an you can almost count on Sergio being in the deal. Lets hope he has a good game, as it will bring a little more bargaining weight to the table. Adios spanish armada
seriously, this idea of teams "showcasing" a player is pretty stupid. teams have scouting reports and game film of all these guys and one game isn't going to make or break a trade. if anything i'd guess this means bayless is going to be included in a deal and they don't want to waste their time with him playing in another game. (see how easy it is to spin)
