    Re: "I love this team"

This is a blog written by Jeff at CB:<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>I don?t mean to gush, but I love this team right now. They were really hard to watch earlier this year. Downright painful. Now? Night has turned to day and things look much brighter. I?m not saying we are there yet, just moving in the right direction and it is just fun to watch. So just like we dole out the blame when the losses mount, we have to give some props when the wins come. Here are some folks that deserve the praise.Paul PierceNot giving him player of the month in February is a travishamockery. He seems bent on getting it in March. Pierce now has the most consecutive 30 point games ever by a Celtic. Wow. I also like that he has a new toy to play with in his arsenal - the drive and dish. He seems to know that Gomes and Jefferson will actually catch the ball and do something positive with it, so when the double team collapses, he dumps it off and gets the assist. Hey NBA, have fun stopping that!Ryan GomesSome rookies hit a wall in March. Ryan is just getting started. Maybe that was Doc?s plan all along, to save him till the final stretch. Regardless, what more can be said about this kid? Just when you think he?s peaked, he takes another step forward. Please, for the love of the game, make sure Scal goes to the bench when Perk comes back. This kid will not be minimized.Danny AingeI don?t think even Ainge knew this would work out so well (so far). Many of us were sad to see Ricky Davis go. I?m hoping that Wally?s knee is not going to be a major concern. Maybe Marcus will do better on some other team than he could ever have done here. Beyond those things, what can you say about the trade? You can?t argue with results. Ainge told us the ball would move better, and it has. He added a class A shooter and subtracted a class A jerk in the process. Its a win-win. Very good trade (again, so far).Doc RiversJust when I wrote this guy off, injuries and a trade shortened up his rotation (one of the primary frustrations) and the players have thrived in their defined roles. Because of the trade, he finally has the team he?s wanted and he?s getting the results. Think about it. He?s overseen Paul?s best year, the emergence of Delonte West and Kendrick Perkins, not to mention the recent revelation of Ryan Gomes. At the very least give him credit for not getting in the way of these guys (well, except maybe Gomes). Was I wrong about him? I don?t know. (It wouldn?t be the first or last time.) All I really know is that the guy has the team playing its best ball since the run they went on after the Antoine Walker trade. Is it just a brief flash of good fortune? Is he just really good with teams right after trades? Or is this the start of something really positive? Who knows?I said back about a month ago that this team needed some kind of progress in the second half of the year. Something that we can take into the summer and build upon. So far, this team has done that, and because of that, I give Doc share in the credit. Now, the question of him being the coach that will take us to the next level is a discussion for another day (we?ll have all offseason to debate that one).Others of Note * Raef LaFrentz - Eddie Jordan blamed the Wizards? loss largely on the fact that his bigs couldn?t rotate out on Raef. That is a matchup advantage for us. * Orien Greene - He?s still making lots of rookie mistakes, but you can see what he brings to the table too. I still like this kid?s future here. * Tony Allen - Give the kid a mulligan on this year and give him some credit for effort. * Wally Szczerbiack - Aside from the ball movement and his jumper, I just love his infectious rah-rah attitude. Its cheesy, but its a good cheesy. * Al Jefferson - One thing the kid knows, is how to score. As soon as he ?gets it? in other areas of his game, he?s gonna be a stud.Oh yeah, and I can?t wait to see Perkins and West back in uniform. I?m really enjoying this team right now.</div> I so agree w/ this. Raef has been huge. His defense in the post and his constant threat from the outside has been a big helper. Just think of this team when Delonte and Perk come back!
