With all his injuries he suffered, tendon injuries, why hasn't he ever been questioned about Steroids?
Griffey had one of the fastest swings in baseball, and I don't remember him ever looking juiced up. He got fat more than anything and was pretty skinny before that
Griffey just seemed like a good all around player, had a background in baseball. Griffey and Maddux are the two guys I DON'T think did it for sure.
Griffey's career is a textbook example of what a clean athlete's career should look like. Up and coming phenom/superstar in their prime/still great but age is showing/dramatic decline
Griffey is one of the last clean greats. Juicing up was around before McGwire/Sosa but still Griff dominated a few years before that 1998 steroid explosion. You can question anyone if you want but at least gather some type of evidence on the dude first.
the thing with griffey was, he was just one of those amazing natural athletes from the time he was a kid. he came out as the number one overall pick to the league phenom, leading up to the eventual MVPs and golden gloves. then as he aged, (unlike aroid..erm...arod) his production fell off. and when he was injured, he stayed injured. he missed more games with his stint at cincinnati than actually playing it lol. and to answer your questions on his injuries. some of them were literally just bad luck: from a shattered wrist to hamstring tears, some of them were just awful. and if you still don't buy it, look at him. he's just fat. he has been for 5 years now.
He was a great player and can still swing the bat. I agree with what 44 said and As David Ortiz said earlier, "90% of baseball players are clean". I'd put Griffey in there.
I think Griffey did juice, and I think Maddox did too....I think they all juiced....in that era, no one talked about steroids....it didnt have the stigma it has today....I think they passed them around the locker room openly and shared whatever worked....I think the players of the 90s know exactly who did what and when, because they saw it....but since 99% of them were using, theres no one to blow the whistle....
