Reggie Miller said that Jamario would be the sleeper in this deal. Fucking moron.

Lol at Reggie Miller telling us what Jamario Moon will do. We've seen every game with this guy, no one knows him better than us and Miller has the balls to come in tell us he's the sleeper. I think he can do well, but how well is up in the air.

Reggie Miller and Kenny Smith are the worst duo in NBA history. And THAT is saying alot

Miller, while being a funny guy, is really bad at what he does. But whatever...I won't say to much until I see how good (or bad) both teams are after this trade.

Good deal for both sides. Not great for either, but Miami can really win this trade. Jamario should look a lot better playing beside Wade, and expectations on him are going to be higher. I think he might bring up his rebounding and defense, which would be huge for them. If JO stays healthy, this trade should help them in the playoffs and it does improve their chances at pairing Wade with a superstar in 2010.

As for Toronto, we need to start building this team a different way, and this trade helps. This deal might actually net us an EXTRA draft pick NEXT season because of the $$ we got. The $$ we're saving by not having to re-sign Moon and by getting out of JO's huge salary should help us fill out the roster more nicely too. Basically, it should be much easier to add more assets to this team next season.

Re-signing Marion could prove to be a huge mistake, but I'd like to see what he does in Toronto and what kind of $$ he demands before I automatically assume he's best used as a half year rental.

At the very least, we should be more exciting to watch this year.

    Welcome to S2! HomieOmey.

Fwiw. Marion is wearing 31, and Banks is wearing 3

BC has his good and bad, I don't know if I give him too much credit for the Nash signing though, he completely blew the Kidd/Marbury trade and got lucky because Isiah Thomas was just as dumb. I don't think the money that summer was meant for Nash all along, there were talks of the Suns trading for Kobe and/or McGrady, after that seemed dead everybody thought they'd sign Dampier, granted it was all media speculation so perhaps BC had the Nash plan all along, I can't say.

As for his draft history, he drafted Finley, Nash, Marion, Amare, & Barbosa (via trade), but he also drafted Tsakalidis, Cabarkapa & traded away most of the picks over the years (Phoenix rarely had a 1st round pick for years) so I'm not sure his draft record is all that strong. His trades have been suspect (trading for Penny Hardaway & trading away Dan Majerle for John Williams is still unforgivable) but with the exception of Gugliotta his free agents have been good - granted Phoenix is easy to sell, most athletes live and train here anyway.

I will say this, BC may make mistakes but he makes up for them. It seemed like a bad move to trade Nash for 3 stiffs and a pick, but that picked turned out to be Shawn Marion. He traded away 2 first round picks for Penny Hardaway but made up for it by trading Jud Buechler & Vinny Del Negro and getting one of those picks back, that pick turned out to be Amare. As stated above the Kidd/Marbury trade sucked but the Marbury & Penny/expiring contracts trade led to signing Nash. So at least BC has a lot of good to go along with his mistakes, so far Steve Kerr's best move is firing a coach he hired.

I dunno about worst but they are awful... unwatchable.

Lately Colangelo has been talking about how the cash he received in the trade will be used to buy a draft pick, but by the time that happens moving from 18 to 28 in a draft might not be so appealing.

That's actually a good point. I think Colangelo's not nearly the visionary that most of us touted him to be when he came to Toronto. He's just as capable of making a terrible move as he is of making a brilliant one. But the man is decisive. And, IMO, that puts him above so many of the NBA's general managers who are just so ridiculous complacent and timid when it comes to improving their roster.

I love that he's decisive, but I still think he's moved a bit too quickly for this franchise. He clearly hates losing, so always seems to be making quick changes that win more games w/out always thinking about the future. We were one of the worst teams in the league when we got BC, and we probably needed to suck at least one more year but BC decided to add a plethora of aging 6th men. Because of his moves, we lost out on prizes like Gasol and Deng and now see ourselves as a team stuck in the middle (not completely built for the future, but definitely not contending or anything close to that either).
