Re: Ruffin to Portland Yes, but it has to be a 1:1 swap. After the Sheed trade, they stopped allowing teams to package players they just traded for.
Re: Ruffin to Portland So this means we're getting a trade exception of roughly 2 million? Cause then this smells like a Tom Penn move, setting up another trade.

Re: Ruffin to Portland Article has been updated: This makes no sense. Shipping out Diogu just to bring back Ruffin? -Pop
Re: Ruffin to Portland Either it's setting us up for another trade with the TE, OR it's actually part of a three team deal yet to be announced.
Re: Ruffin to Portland Exactly. This is a classic Tom Penn move. This is all about the trade exception. I wonder what's coming next...
Re: Ruffin to Portland or were saving roughly $2 million on Ike's contract, hopefully in preparation of eating someone else's bad contract.
Re: Ruffin to Portland Dang, ok. I'm going to excersize and be back... Watch me miss something huge. Go Blazers!
Re: Ruffin to Portland OK. So Ruffin for Ike doesn't work. Is it true that trade exceptions cannot be bundled together? So the Bulls have to be sending something else to get the trade to match up? It'll be interesting to see. Ruffin is useless, it seems, given that he hasn't played a minute for the Bulls this year. Ed O.
Re: Ruffin to Portland Ike AND a cool $1 mil to the Kings for Ruffin? haha... that can't be it. This is going to be one big deal I think..
Re: Ruffin to Portland Now I can say that Diogu was useless. He was the only guy on the team that didn't come out before games and work with coaches. Too busy playing video games. Ruffan is a legit veteran enforcer. 6' 8", 248. (On edit) Oooops. Forget the veteran enforcer theory. Ruffin has been injured all season. Now I don't know what's up at all.
Re: Ruffin to Portland Although that's prorated based on how much of the season is already over; by my quick math we only save about $800k in actual money, since 5/8 of the season has already been played and 5/8 of Ike's contract has already been paid. I think this is all about the trade exception.
Re: Ruffin to Portland OK! Now it makes some sense. The Blazers save money, presumably, by sending Diogu to Sacramento, even if they send money to the Kings to cover (some of?) the difference. Because it was part of a larger deal, the Kings are taking in within the allowed difference of what they're sending out, and a team can ALWAYS take back less than it sends out... and that creates a trade exception. Honestly, though? This looks like a pure dollar-saving move. Which, if Ike is never going to be used, makes sense. Ed O.
