Pretty funny listening to the Fifth Quarter, they went through all the trades and Antonio Harvey shut down Richard Jefferson because he doesn't bring us anything that any of our current players do, and he believes Vince Carter doesn't bring it every night and they basically said NO trade.
That's a 12-pick as it stands. Another Blazer must be involved besides Sergio/Frye/Outlaw/Raef to make KP demand another pick from the deal, right?
2011 pick...so that's still two years into the future. According to another report, "teams" are trying to squeeze Thorn for picks in addition to Carter just being dumped for expiring contracts.
The thing that you never seem to quite get is that the Blazers' number one objective isn't making the playoffs this year; it's putting the team in the best position to contend for multiple titles 2-3 years down the road. If they can find a trade before the deadline that helps achieve that AND helps make the playoffs this year, so much the better. Just making a trade to increase the odds of making the playoffs this year, but at the expense of the team's longer term chances, IMO, isn't going to happen.
That's true to some degree, but the team did publicly put making the playoffs as the primary goal for this season.
Sure, it's a major goal, but not at the expense of the bigger picture of where the team will be when Oden, Aldridge, & Roy get to the top of their games in 2-3 years. Making the playoffs this year is a big step and it would give the team valuable experience, but nobody reasonably expects them to do more than maybe at best get out of the first round. Compare that to positioning for a long run at multiple titles and I think you'll agree that any trade now has to fit with that objective or it's best to pass on it.
badass. Not only do the Blazers get by far the best player out of that deal, KP has the balls to ask for a potential high lottery pick. I love KP.
Neither will Thorn. KP has the west coast advantage here in trade discussions. Maybe he can wear down Thorn deep into the night and get him to commit to something as he becomes delusional from lack of sleep.
Hmmm.... I really wonder how accurate some of these rumors are. We turned down Wallace and Nazr for Raef and ?? I don't believe it. Who cares if we have to take back Nazr.... you get Wallace, so you do it.
According to media reports, the Blazers could have Carter or Wallace, the holdup is asking for a pick from the Nets or not taking a (sorta) bad contract from the Bobcats. This all sounds too good to be true. What next, CP3 is available for RLEC, Sergio, and Outlaw but KP doesn't want to give up a 2nd rounder?
That would be just lovely. Then Thorn can rescind the Carter trade after it was announced like he did the Shareef trade. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/basketball/nba/nets/2005-08-09-shareef-trade_x.htm
