Just when the Clippers thought it was over, they play the Suns again tonight. How many points will Phoenix lay on them tonight?
The Suns will score 124 points, I also predict Al Thornton will have a good game (25+ points) after going 3-9 for 8 points last night.
CelticKing won (158) who was 16 points off, I was 18 points off (I didn't expect the benchwarmers to continue the onslaught in the 4th, I figured it would've been something like 32-37-35-20). JE was damn close, to the Suns 3rd quarter total (103) better luck next time Nostradamus. I was right about Thornton but guess I should’ve said 30+ as he got 33 – the thing is the Suns don’t let all-stars have big games (I think Iverson scores the least against Phoenix) they always let a bench player or 3rd/4th option player have a big game… for instance Trenton Hassell used to own the Suns and Marreese Speights just had a great game against us a few weeks ago.
Talk about a ridiculous 2 game stretch. Wins of 140-100 and 142-119...wow. I believe their combined win margin (63 points) was the 4th or 5th highest in the NBA for back to backs, something to that extent.
Or their opponents, we should've been playing the Clippers without their big men all year, who'd-a-thunk it? The Suns play Boston (2/22) and the Lakers twice (2/26, 3/1), that'll be more telling than these two games. I'm sure every player knows these games weren't indicative of how they'll play against all teams but at least they had fun, built confidence, and hopefully diffused any dissention between players. I think Shaq's antics at the All-Star game may have changed a few attitudes as well, the Suns have been very serious and morose all season, seeing Shaq having fun may have rubbed off on the other guys. Last night Shaq chased down a long rebound, thought he was a PG, dribbled between defenders in the open court, and set Nash up for an easy layup; they were finally having fun which is great to see. The schedulers may have given the Suns a huge assist, had they fired Porter and Genry's first games were against Boston and the Lakers and they lost them both, that could've really been damaging. Getting to play the Clippers twice and the Thunder before having to play elite teams could really jumpstart this team.
I really hope they keep playing this way buddy, they are a fun team to watch. But I agree that the game versus the Celtics and then later versus the Lakers will be the true test.
