I have been reading these boards everyday for 2-3 months now, and I have been reading other NBA boards for 2 years now. I read articles on basketball, talk with friends about basketball, and listen to NBA shows. You know the one thing that is almost ALWAYS broughten up? Kobe Bryant, and the perception that people hate his guts. Laker fans say people hate his guts because people see him as selfish. That simply isn't true. Want to know why people hate Kobe? Want to know why people hate Bron? It is same reason.....way too much hype on the guy to make him seem like he is the best thing to ever happen to the NBA. Every non-Laker fan I know is sick and tired of hearing about him and hearing how amazing he is. EVERYONE knows he is an amazing talent and one of best (if not the best) in the league, but we don't need to hear about it 3x-4x a day. So, when people hear/see something bad about him (the extreme was rape case, the minimal thing is say him going 9 for 33) non-Laker fans rejoice. They hate his guts because Lakers fans always make him seem like GOAT, so when something bad happens to the guy, people take aim at that and key in on that. Laker fans call it hating, others call it justice.Lastly, what is the worst to me, is that when Laker fans hear something even SLIGHTLY negative about the man (even when it is in a debate), they stick their claws out and attack, and call it hating and all that other crap. That makes hate for the guy even worse by non-Laker fans.Bottom line is I love Kobe as a player, but I, and many others, are sick of hearing about him from laker fans thinking that he is so great he sh*ts outs purple and gold. The man isn't perfect, and if we are "hating" on him, it is your faults. So, when a Laker fan on this board calls you a hater of Kobe, just laugh at him for the fool he is. NOTE: If some peopel hate Kobe because of rape case, that is a different story. But even before that, this seemed to be main problem.
it does bother me how badly laker fans praise kobe, but i still don't hate him. sometimes i hate his fans, but not him.

He leads all the people who actually play like a Shooting guard mean Shooting jumpers. Basically, people hear so much hype about a guy that when the player doesn't meet their expectations or something negative happens to him, people knit pick or enjoy his misery. A good example is people hating on Bron because of all the hype he got outta high school. So, it isn't hating, it is usually out of straight annoyance of hearing Laker fans say how good he is and who sometimes say false statements to make Kobe seem like the best player ever.

No, because people want Bron to be better, and he has the same ego and cockiness. He hasn't made as many mistakes down the road yet, so that might be part of it, but again, all the hype surrounding any player always results in hate.

When both were young (even now) they were getting WAY overhyped to be next MJ/GOAT. So, when they do something negative, people zero in on int and knit pick. Then Laker fans call people haters for saying the negatives about Kobe, and that generates more hate by other people. Notice a trend? When you ar eoverhyped, people rarely give you benefit, yet when you are a secret and make it big in NBA, there is nothing but praise (Dwyane Wade for example).
I'm actually starting to like Kobe. I don't think people should call him a rapist. He cheated on his wife, sure. But you think Shaq or anyone else in the NBA hasn't? It was just some <Censored> who wanted money.His offensive game could be called ball hogging, true. Because he takes so many shots but if he didn't his team would be in the trenches. The truth is that he is hauling an otherwise poor team up to .500 and into the playoffs, which in my books is pretty amazing. He has got an unbelieveable jumper, he is a good driver, good court awareness, good defender and good desire to win. Lets face it boys, Kobe is a good player.

But I think Kobe is basically resetting all his championships until he gets one on his own and becomes Finals MVP. I think that's why he got rid of Shaq. he wanted to make the step from a good player to a great player.
