I am not certain about that. I think this team has one acceptable PG on the roster now (Blake) and one good prospect (Bayless) - but going long-term - what happens if Bayless does not pan out? what happens if Blake is wounded or stops being effective?

The rumor was that they wanted Batum for Wallace - and I am just not sold on the idea that this is a good deal.

There were a few quoted articles last night that Charlotte wanted Portland to either throw in Batum or take back Mohammed's contract. If it really were an "or," I'd be disappointed not take back Mohammed's deal and get Wallace. But that rumour was probably untrue and it was probably "and."

    :sigh:

3-4 more months of Sergio and Blake (no bayless)

3-4 more months of Travis Outlaw...

3-4 more months of terrible perimeter defense...

3-4 more months of Channing Frye...

meh, i was kinda hoping for another pritch-slap but i think GM's are wising up to the fact we often come out like bandits. like some other guy mentioned, we know next to nothing about what really goes on in these discussions so im actually happy enough to trust that KP didnt make a move as it was the best option. trading for trading's sake isnt the way to go.

    Fuck.

Several options out there at small forward that would've drastically improved our team, and we couldn't get it done even with the RLEC.

    Oh well.

Still a playoff team. Just much more likely to get bounced in the first round.

    Dear Kevin Pritchard

You blew it. The iron was hot, and we had one of the more valuable trading "chips" in recent memory - a huge expiring contract with insurance incentives. It was the perfect storm to pull off a trade for a really good player in these tough economic times. Sure, we would also have to part with one of our young, talented but UNPROVEN players, but you have to give to get. How many chances do you get to aquire a player that could propel us into a legit playoff team, perhaps with home court advantage? Blazer Mania was that close . . . it could have been a really special season. And perhaps the beginning of many to come. It was the kind of move that could have defined your career. It didn't happen, and you'll tell us to "let the cake bake" and "these are the guys we'll go to war with", and it's just not good enough. I just heard you say on the radio that "Sometimes watching your guys grow through the tough times is just as fun and rewarding as the championship run". Well, not for me.

Our team is flawed. Perimeter defense, and a lack of a solid 2nd scoring option remain problems A stagnant half court offense that, if it weren't for Brandon Roy, would be flat out ugly. Actually, it has been ugly recently period. Many fans feel this team will not make the playoffs, that they will be the #9 seed when the smoke clears. Maybe they sneak in with the #7 or #8 seed and get whacked by LA or SA with this roster.

It's off to other things for me. Fair weather fan? Maybe. I can tell you I turned the channel last night vs Memphis to watch "Lost" - it was an easy decision. I'm tired of watching sloppy play. Travis Outlaw losing his man on the perimeter for open shots and forcing up crap at the other end, or Sergio dribbling the ball into a shot clock violation. Oh I'll tune in to watch a few games, or at least a few 4th quarters. I'm not buying any more tickets this year. Money's too hard to come by these days. I'm sure I'd feel differently if today gone the way I'd hoped.

You've done some good things since you've been here to be fair. I won't curse you or insult you like some. But I'm not buying that Raef coming off the books gives us FA flexability. What FA ever comes to Portland? Not trading RLEC is a waste. I'll be looking for your comments after the season. After these 29 games, and (perhaps) another late season melt down . . . will you admit you blew it? See you then.

But giving up Travis, Sergio, Channing, Martell, weren't options. They are his boyz.

    Re: Dear Kevin Pritchard

I agree also. The no trade is a little anticlimatic but a good thing. People here are two short sided and forcing a trade now could ruin everything we've worked for to this point. We are 4th in the WC with Martell out all season, Blake out for weeks, Roy out for a few weeks, Oden has missed about 1/3 of our games. Things are looking pretty good IMO.

Everybody keeps crying about now, the Ike trade sets us up for the summer. We are in a much better position to land a FA or make a lopsided trade at our leisure. We will be able to take in much more salary then we send out and teams will be even more desperate than they are now.

I can't believe all the cry babies turning on KP. Dont forget he is the one that got us to where we are now. In KP I trust, remember that? So if you are ready to go jump off a cliff over todays events, then please do, Im going to sit back and watch my team go to the playoffs and still be the team no one wants to play.

Kaydow: You forgot the part where you list all the amazing trades that real, forward-thinking GMs actually DID pull off. How Vince Carter was dealt for an expiring contract to Cleveland. How Gerald Wallace went to Dallas for Jerry Stackhouse and a second round pick. These are, after all, the things you need to include as evidence for the fact that KP screwed up.
