LMAO. The Net fan clearly doesn't even watch his own team play. Probably will become a trend since Rod "doesn't get robbed" Thorn just blew an opportunity to clear $16 million this summer in cap space over a 1st round pick 3 years from now. Or at least that's the story Thorn was whining about on TV after the deadline.

That's probably a fair assessment judging the number of empty seats you see in their arena on a night-in night-out basis.

Seriously though, if Thorn's story is accurate and he really did pull out of a Portland deal for Vince Carter because of Portland demanding a 2011 first round pick, he should resign immediately. Not only would he save the franchise literally millions of dollars the rest of this season, but he'd become THE player this summer in the FA market. The Nets would have had over $25 million free in cap space in the deal the Nets fans were complaining about earlier today.

Wait, 25 million? Would they be under the cap even with VC this season?

Yeah, they'll be about $5-9 million under the cap as they stand right now depending on the new cap. RLEC/Frye would have made it another $16+ million. No wonder Thorn held a mini-press conference to deflect blame.

It says they have $57,769,860 in committed salaries. Right now the cap is ~59 million. If it goes down, which it might, they could have no cap space.

Portland's talent is really over rated by some of the fans.

Roy is awesome, but after that it's pretty much a crap shoot.

Aldridge is really good, but he hasn't improved over last season
Oden has a shitload of potential, but he does have some injury concerns
Outlaw sucks. He scores, but does absolutley nothing else. If his shot is off he is worthless.
Webster has been average throughout his career.
Sergio is a good passer, but can't penetrate or defend.
    Frye sucks.
Rudy looks like he is going to be good, but he falls in love with his 3 too much, and plays behind our best player.
Batum and Bayless both look like they will be really good, but you never know at this point.

By the way, ESPN's Jamaal Mashburn calls us the losers of the day.

Hmm, even worse than the sites I was reading about earlier. I read a few that said he Nets were $8 million or so under the cap, but I guess that was incorrect. This makes not moving Carter is even more inexcusable if Thorn's tale of woe is to be believed.

KP admits he may overvalue his players. He also says the youngest team in the league (no Raef) is currently in the playoffs after 53 games.

Why are you even a fan? All you do is criticize.

Other sites call the Blazers the winners of the day, and Jamal Mashburn is a proven NBA loser.

Probably because it doesn't factor in Harris's salary.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Outside of Outlaw, that sounds exactly like majority opinion of every player. So what's the overrating?

I would have enjoyed a blockbuster trade - because I am a "fan" - but with that said, and attempting to be pragmatic:

We should have traded Sergio and moved RLEC!

I would have opted for a vet back-up PF - (knowing full well that PF didn't address our need at SF or PG - but I would have brougt in a playoff experienced vet stud to help in our playoff push THIS SEASON.

Jamison would have been an awesome addition - especially had we only given up RLEC and Sergio to get it done.

I'm very fine that we did not move Outlaw, Bayless, et al - but Sergio only hinders Bayless' playing time. Look at last night - Bayless didn't even play? I honestly figured we were going to see a trade today that involved Bayless and that this was the reason for his lack of playing time....but after Blake's injury, I believe Bayless earned minutes each game from now on.

If not playing Bayless was simply Nate's rotation scheme - then I'm really going to start questioning if we have the right coach!

I hear ya, but I think we're all going to be glad this team has three well qualified (not to mention, diverse) PG's going into the playoffs. Ya just never know about injuries.

Its easy for fans to not care about Paul Allens money, but adding Jamison's 40 million over the next 3 years is a lot of money. They have to be somewhat practical. Jamsion would be a great guy to have on the team, but his perimeter D is non existent at the SF. He basically would be a high priced bench player.

I would say we do over rate our players. And we also over rate other team's players. Some fans only watch the highlights and boxscores of other teams and don't see the flaws.

At the same time, if we don't like a player we are completely closed minded about it. We don't see what other people see. Outlaw is the perfect example. Almost every media guy this week from around the league raved about him. Same with fans here in Utah, they all think Outlaw is great. You and many others, on the other hand think he sucks. I find it all interesting to say the least.
