The trade deadline has come and gone. Now Martell coming back seems more important than ever to me. Has anybody heard anything about when he is expected back? I thought he was supposed to start running again by now...but no word.

Last I remember reading anything about him was he was either late feb or early march but no idea on current stuff though. Question though when/if he comes back does that mean outlaw at backup pf and batum back up sf? I'm curious to see what that will do if anything good defense with clutch shots? Lol

I would assume so yes. Martell is definitly more talented offensivly than Batum, and did not do a bad job last year on D, a lot of the time he was the guy who guarded the other teams best perimeter player. Which is why he is such an important piece. He was showing signs in the preseason before injury, showing some chemistry with Rudy when they played together. He also adds team speed, as he is the fastest guy on the team, and has been every year since he has been here.

That his boot is still on is not a good sign. Last word I heard was that after the break the boot would come off and they would check him for pain. If there was continued pain, the whole plan would be reevaluated. Its the same bone Bill Walton broke as a Blazer. It's important no more mistakes (like Toronto) are made and the foot heals properly. That might take more time and it might take another surgery. I wouldn't count on seeing him play again this year. I hate to be negative about it, but his body is showing us that at this time, it would be unwise to rely on him.

According to Quick, he was supposed to be out of the boot a couple of days ago. The fact that he isn't is a bad sign.

The smart money says he doesn't play a meaningful role this season.
