Get ready for Run's "No homo, I had to watch all this shit with my girlfriend" list of recently viewed movies: He's just not that Into You- 7.5/10. Surprisingly not that bad as far as chick movies go. Was relatively entertaining throughout and even funny at times. I'd recommend it for guys trying to watch girly movies with their g/f. The corny factor is kept to a relative minimum. Its not nearly as painful as some of the others I've seen. I must say that its a complete Love Actually rip off but made American and somewhat updated. I liked it more though. Definitely Maybe- 7.5/10. We rented this one because it was between this and some other shitty looking movies so I convicned her to go with the one that had Ryan Reynolds, the chick from Zack and Miri make a Porno/40 y/o Virgin/Scrubs, and the red head from Wedding Crashers/The Lookout. Ended up being ok as well. Wasn't very painful to watch and was relatively entertaining. Vicky Christina Barcelona- 5.5/10. Was somewhat entertaining but I hated the acting (except Penelope Cruz). It seemed like it was trying way too hard to be european, stylish, etc. It had an omniscient narration style that was ridiculous IMO (again trying to be charming and stylish). Wasn't terrible to watch but the acting and narration drove me crazy- I hate when movies try to be witty and edgy but compromise any realism in doing so. Pride and Prejudice- 6/10. Was fairly entertaining but boring in general. Acting was good I suppose. The Sweetest Thing-3/10. Unfunny and boring. The only thing that saves this from a zero is that Christina Applegate is hotter than ever in it. Love Actually- 5/10. Pretty crappy in general but I like how a lot of the story lines don't work out to have a happy ending. The Holiday- 3/10. Shitty. I hate Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslett. Jack Black sucked in this. This was the first movie I've seen with Jude Law in it and I surprisingly kind of liked him. It sucked though. I feel better having come clean about this guys. FWIW I made her watch Goodfellas, No Country for Old Men, The Departed, The Godfather, Swingers and a few others.
Pelts(starring Meatloaf)-Horror flick worth missing. .5/10 Abominable-horror flick, another flick worth missing.1/10
Saw it recently and thought it was witty and funny. I totally went into it thinking it would be a lame as hell chick flick but I kept getting some good reviews from people around me. It was engaging and smart I thought. 8/10
Hard Candy Caught this on IFC over the weekend, a very intense and disturbing film about pedophila. Great acting as their is just Ellen Page and Patrick Wilson in 95% of the movie. It's about a 14 yr old girl who finds this guy on the internet and agrees to meet him. She's certain he's a pedophile and wants to expose him. She goes to his house and from there the story gets very intense. Is she right? Is she crazy? why did she choose this guy? This movie is creepy because of the subject matter, but it should also make you think a bit. If you're tired of popcorn fair, this is a movie worth checking out. 8/10. Southland Tales This is a strange futuristic movie that can be hard to follow at times. I didn't find it that hard, but it does try to be artistic and confusing at times, but it felt forced. The story is basic when you break it down a bit until the end where they throw a bit of a curveball at ya. The best part of the film is trying to recognize and name all of the stars in it, cause it's loaded with ppl. Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock) gives another solid performance. I think he's a pretty decent actor who needs to be given a great action flick rather than doing more kid flicks. All in all I enjoyed this weird flick despite the sometimes forced attempts at being deep and weird. 7/10
Role Models -- 9/10 -- I can't remember the last time I laughed all the way through a movie like this. Paul Rudd kills it in this one.
Anchorman is fucking hilarious. I can't ever get tired of that movie. SB I think is underrated. It's fruggin' funny as fuck.
Raging Bull - better every time I watch it (had to watch it for class) 9/10 The Birds - 7/10 Rear Window - 8/10
