He played in the 2nd half? I could have swore I saw Marks in there almost exclusively the entire 2nd half. Chris Paul cost them the game at the end. He should have done one of two things. Either A) drop it off to the trailer for a layup, or B) pull it back and force Fisher to foul him. B would likely have been the best choice since it would have eaten more clock than dishing for a layup. Instead, he forced a tough shot and got called for the charge. Stupid play.
i don't think 43% is above average for kobe... he shoots 45% for his career... and is supposedly shooting a career high 47% (previously 48%)... above average for a guard of kobe's caliber is 50%+, 45+ is good, 43% is ok... BTW, isn't 12-12 from the FT line already expected of Kobe Bryant? haha
His true shooting percentage was 55.3%, the league average is 53-53.5%, thus he was above average. The importance of FT shooting should not be overlooked, missing two is obviously pretty much equivalent to missing a bucket. Kobe was 12-12 from the stripe tonight and none in garbage time.
An above average efficiency performance is nothing special to me from Kobe, you shouldn't be surprised that Bryant made it all up at the end.
Sometimes stats are bullshit dude. Kobe had an off shooting night. He started like 3-13 or some shit.
He was below his season average, not the league average. PER is much more easily Bullshit, TS% is more straightforward. He had that epic OT.
For once, i agree with Mamba... all that really matters is how Kobe performed... even he acknowledged it in the interview (that he was missing easy shots), and the camera man even caught Byron Scott thanking Kobe for missing those easy buckets. Kobe played like crap for 4 quarters... He made up for it in OT. His fg% for 4 quarters sucked, his overall fg% (ft% and 3pt% aside) is below average for HIS standards, but the way he pulled it together in OTwas phenomenal (not many players can go from shooting 33% to 43% with 5 mins to go). period.
Perhaps I should have made my position clear earlier, but I have already clarified what I meant. I'm not surprised at all that Kobe almost got back to his regular self, but indeed he was off. I caught most of the game and it was painful to watch.

i had turned off the game last night in the 4th, because I thought the lakers had it in the bag......I cut it back on to see the Hornets had tightened it up.........Lakers escaped with one....it seems as if the lakers have improved somewhat on cutting down penetration, but they still give up far too many open 3 point shots........gotta get a hand in a NBA player's face..........
The Lakers contested a few of those 4th quarter threes, but Posey and Butler were just hot. Plus, I'd rather give them a look than let Chris Paul get a layup, regardless of how good they are from three point range. The only person who had shot well out there prior to the 4th was Butler.
Derek Fisher saved our ass last night. I can't believe how pathetic our bench played last night. They blew a 12 point lead and a 16 point lead in this game and the starters were forced to bail them out three times. Jordan Farmar was abused by Chris Paul and the Laker big men weren't hustling back on transition. I was hoping PJax would put Shannon Brown out there for a few more minutes to give Paul a different look on defense. Also what's wrong with Sasha lately? Is his leg still injured because he's been terrible the entire month.
