Oscar Robertson. But in reality, I barely remember him. I had his poster though; and he was my first favorite player.

I liked Bob McAdoo; who we should have drafted instead of LaRue.

I liked Lew Alcindor, before he became a Laker. Not so much after that. He was good in Airplane, though. Well, not 'good', but as entertaining as anyone else.

    I like Steve Nash.

I have to say I loved Gary Payton. It helped that I watched every home Beavers game he ever played in.

I also really liked Shawn Kemp from the first time I saw him. I've erased the painful memory of his Blazers "comeback" from my data banks.

    I guess I'll stop there.

Malik Sealy (RIP) is probably the most random. Don't know why I liked the guy. I think he was one of my first basketball cards that I got. Got his rookie card in a pack. I liked Reggie Miller, Terrell Brandon, Penny Hardaway (God I kept wishing he'd get back).

Brent Barry and GP for their Beaver connections.

Eddie Jones is the only Laker I can remember liking while he was a Laker.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Hakeem Olajuwon wasn't an uberstar? Wade isn't an uberstar today? You're not exactly out on a limb liking them. ;)

I like great players because...their greatness is fun to watch. Why else like a player? I don't have beers with any of them.

    My wife, of course.

If you meant non-Blazers players, John Stockton is the only that comes to mind at all.

Those players were all hall of famers but from a casual fans standpoints, nearly everyone knows who magic, bird, jordan, kobe, lebron are..hence UBERstar.
Its not that they are not fun to watch, I just don't like having my fv player be everyone elses..which is prolly why Travis and Bayless are my fv Blazers...Roy is sick nasty, but kinda cliche to call him your fv.
Its not an "Im better than you" syndrom, more of like "I like being different".

Magic Johnson. He's still the most unique basketball player I have ever seen in my life. Truly a once in a generation talent.

He was going to "change the game", but there has been nobody with his skill set since his prime.

Yes, I know he's a Laker, but I am a fan of great players as well, and Magic wins out over Jordan to me because Jordan ripped my heart out in the Finals.

Of course Jordan tops the 'respect' list, but I never really liked the guy much. I didn't root for him, unless it was against the L*kers or when they played the Jazz in the Finals. I extremely dislike Karl Malone.

    The Admiral.
    Gary Payton.
    Reggie Miller.
    Tim Duncan.

Depends: I have different reasons for liking different players. For example, there's the "interesting character" players - Barkley and Arenas, for example, who are great interviews but you wouldn't necessarily want them on your team. I put Baron Davis in here too.

Then there are players that I liked because they stood up to players I hated: Gary Payton (Jordan) and Raja Bell (Bryant), for example.

Then there are players where you just have to admire their greatness: Olajuwon is pretty much alone here (because he's the greatest player I didn't hate). Oh, and I guess Tim Duncan, although his greatness is much less obvious and amazing to watch.

And then of course there are the "just because": Dikembe Mutombo, Vlade Divac, Sam Cassell, Eric Snow, Bo (yes, actually Bo) Outlaw, Danny Manning, and the immortal Cookie Belcher.

Growing up I LOVED Michael Adams. Probably because when I was young I was undersized for the game, and I shot a lot of 3's, like Adams. He was fearless as well. A very entertaining player.
