Initially he's probably going to come off the bench, but what about the long run? What about the postseason? Do we stick with the Pau-Lamar front court that has been 9-1, I believe, since Bynum went down? The same front court that got us to the Finals last year? Or do we put Lamar on the bench again (a role he hasn't succeeded in) and make Bynum a starter to give us a legit post presence?

I'm kind of mixed, but I'm actually leaning towards bringing Bynum off the bench. He's come off the bench before, and succeeded. Him and Famar have terrific chemistry, and he'll be able to dominate other team's second units. I can't say the same for Lamar, who for the most part looked like a disinterested scrub when he came off the bench. I think this way, we can maximize both Bynum and Lamar's talents.

We may not have a choice this year, but I'm not set on any role yet. We have this amazing flow to our team I don't want to mess with right now, Drew needs to be worked back in slowly in his first few games obviously.

You have to realize the only reason Odom is playing well right now is that Bynum is not dressed. If Bynum came off the bench and took away Odom's 35 minutes a night, Odom would produce what he does off the bench as a starter.

Once he gets his legs back under him Bynum starts

...btw, we will all be bitching about Odom again before Bynum comes back so it will be an easy decision when the time comes around

I would say it depends on how the team plays once he returns. Obviously he's going to be coming off the bench initially, but from there, I think it just depends on he's doing, how Odom is doing, and more importantly, how the team is doing.

Off the bench, no brainer. Until he gets everything back to how he was playing before, don't fuck with the offensive chemistry that we've got going. Just because he doesn't start doesn't mean he can't play starter minutes.

How well will he play with the second unit?

Probably better than Lamar. Lamar has already shown he cannot succeed off the bench, he needs to start. Which is part of the reason why I want him starting, he has been terrific lately and has great chemistry with the first unit guys. Bynum came off the bench before, and had great chemistry with Farmar. I don't think it should be any problem.

I hope Bynum off the bench helps out Vujacic. He has been having somewhat of a disappointing year. I expected him to play at least 15-20 on average, but with the rise of Ariza and Odom off the bench, he hasn't been given the opportunity. Bynum playing with Vujacic gives Vujacic some space to shoot and benefits Bynum in the post.

How about option 3, both Odom and Bynum in the starting lineup?

That would be my option, at least when Bynum is ready for starter minutes. I think it's something we have to at least try out at some point in time.

Bynum and Gasol will be playing high and low post. Odom can't really play on the perimeter, I would rather have Fisher and Kobe camp out at the 3.

He's a lot better playing the perimeter than Luke Walton. He'd basically play the post position Kobe's been playing in these past few games.

I'm leaning towards starting him and moving Odom to the bench, despite Odom's play.

The facts are there, the bench is much better with Odom there. Without Odom running the bench unit and coming in with Farmar and Sasha, there is no chemistry and leadership. Farmar and Sasha run wild, make terrible decision, and don't have a positive impact for us. Ariza, too. Odom's presence, veteran leadership, and game settle the bench and create easy opportunities for the rest of the team. I don't know if Bynum on the bench would have that kind of impact on these other young guys.

Not exactly an amazing prediction...but yeah...
