Nah, I was just playing around with the "best of the rest" comment -- sort of like being the best of the worst or the worst of the best.
Sporting News didn't pick the Blazers as "the best of the rest" it was some blogger who goes by mojomike. I have no idea who mojomike is, but when he has a factual error in his opening statement, I find it hard to take him seriously and put much stock in anything else he says: "Like last season, when a 50-win team was left out of the playoff race for the first time in NBA history..." So Mr. mojomike, please tell us what 50-win team was left out of the play-off race last season? NONE. The Warriors finished 9th with 48 wins. Every team that won 50 made the play-offs. I knew that off the top of my head, but even if I didn't, it would have been easy to verify in about 15 seconds on any of over 100 web sites. Why, in this age when information is at our fingertips, is it so hard to get simple facts straight? We have instantaneous access to more information today than at anytime history, yet it seems like every article I read has factual errors that would be easy to catch. Oh well, it's not like I rely on mojomike for my NBA facts and news. BNM
A first round matchup with Utah with the Blazers having home court advantage would be a war. Definate trial by fire for the youngsters.
