ha, like any of us know what really happened. its a buyers market, and if the sellers (new jersey, phoenix, etc) want to play hardball, im sure kp is more than happy to let their assets devalue even more before this summer. we are in a way better spot than we were imo.
amare will be avaliable for free this summer. and all of our players will have more value. so your idea is not a good one.
Wow. This discussion has gotten just plain weird. If you're right, then KP shouldn't have been discussing trades with anybody, since bringing in anybody new would "change the culture."
Does anyone still like Stoudemire? Haven't we seen enough poisonous comments from anyone who's tried to coach him? He's Zach Randolph but without the rebounding!
But who is actually good on offense. Zach Randolph has a career TS% of 52.0%. Amare Stoudemire has a career TS% of 60.4% The difference between Stoudemire and Randolph is that Stoudemire is actually good at offense, while Randolph is not.
I had wondered what KP was talking about when he said the prospective trades might have affected our culture, since I never heard of any problems with Butler, Wallace or Jefferson. So that makes me think they were most serious about a Stoudemire trade. And in this case, I think the "culture" he was talking about was not in terms of being a badass or lawbreaker, but in terms of a guy who is not coachable and is not "team first". Here's a quote from the New York Post: "If you talk to coaches who have asked him to perform certain elementary duties on the court, including rotating on defense, some of them will tell you that he's 'totally uncoachable and totally high maintenance,' as one confided during All-Star Weekend."
As I said, you're obviously new around here. I regularly celebrate Blazer wins by starting threads featuring pictures of the Blazers in action. After our recent win against the Knicks, I started a thread that saluted the NYTimes for calling Brandon Roy a "transcendent player." I also posted a thread celebrating the Blazers' 30-17 record that stated, "Go Blazers!" You're focusing on some critical comments I've made recently, but if you'd been around here very long you'd know that's only a narrow slice of my contribution to the board.
The only thin I can say about you right now is that you have a nice avatar. I'll just have to take your word on the rest.
[Deleted] What was the lie? He said he was tempted by a deal for Amare Stoudamire but did not pull the trigger. Is he making that up? Was he not offered the deal? Why would he make that up, when the Suns could easily refute it? What were the Suns asking for? If they were offering Stoudamire, bad eye and all, for LaFrentz and Shavlik Randolph and a second round pick, KP should have taken it. If they were demanding Roy, Oden, Aldridge, Rudy Fernandez, or both Bayless and Batum, KP probably thought the price was too steep. KP has made it clear in past years he is not too fond of mid-season trades. He still apparently is not. Oden was a lucky bounce of ping poing balls, but the liar, spinner, ridiculous guy who "gave up" had the dealmaking skills to land the Blazers Brandon Roy, LaMarcus Aldridge, Sergio Rodriguez, James Jones, Rudy Fernandez, Jerryd Bayless, Nicolas Batum, and now a $3 million trade exception - not bad for a liar, right, Shooter (or does he still block my posts?)
