Per The Oregonian: Revitalized Blazers see their past in present Clippers How much longer does Dunleavy have in LA?
Considering that he works for one of the cheapest owners in all of sports and that if he were fired he'd be due millions I'm guessing he's about as safe as you could get.
The thing is Dunleavy got Elgin Baylor canned....and is one of the few guys that actually stood up to Sterling, he might respect that and is a possible reason why he's still in LA. Dunleavy just doesn't give a fuck...he's pretty gangster.
That is the first and probably the last time Mike Dunleavy (any Mike Dunleavy) has been called gangster.
dude, remember that time he got into it with Shaq? That guy's a bit loco in the same way that Van Gundy is. that was crazy. I've always liked Dunleavy and was a bit pissed when he was fired.
I see no corelation between the teams. Despite Canzano and some fans view, the Blazers players always seemed pretty tight on court and in the locker room. Other than when Pippen was here stirring the pot and constantly pointing fingers I think they got along fairly well.
yeah, the clips are just a clusterfuck of random players...most of them being injured right now so they have a JV team out on the court right now and have been for most of the season. they have a decent core of players though, if they were all healthy they'd be fine. Eric Gordon Al Thronton ZBO Camby Kaman B-Diddy those aren't bad players, most of them have been injured this year at one time or another.
It's a decent core, but it's not terribly complementary. Seems like a lot of scorers but few defenders to me.
Except for Z-Bo decking Ruben, and Sheed throwing a towel at Sabas, and heaving a ball at a teammate (Ha?). I'm sure there are many more examples.
Yeah, he seems to have the same role in LA he had in Denver. The one lone guy actually interested in defending somebody.
Mike sorta has a Frank Sinatra type toughness to him. He is from Brooklyn. But you can't really dis the clippers do much can you, considering their injuries. Portland should have blown them out.
They did blow them out. I would call being up by roughly 30 the whole game a blowout. What is your definition?
Mike is no pushover. The guy can get in your face. Who can forget when Rick Fox was trying to pull some BS in Game 6 of the 2000 WCF, and trying to bait Scottie into sucker punching him to get him suspended for a Game 7. And Mike immediately picked up on it and started talking major trash up the sidelines to Fox. That was good stuff. As for the Clippers, they're just a mess. The guys I'd build around are Thornton and Gordon, and trade everyone else.
If the Blazers had cared after the 1st quarter, it would've been 50. If we hadn't been up 30, Rudy and Sergio wouldn't have sniffed the court after that basketball-pass abortion. It was a blowout, and us playing uninterested ball the last 36 minutes wasn't a matter of what the Clips did well, it was us shifting into a lower gear.
