Oh man, it's so boring watching Crawford dance around for 20 seconds, almost lose the ball three times, and then throw up an and-1 brick. That's the thing about some of the Warrior vets and the team chemistry in general most often. Their play is faulty. They don't play the right way, so that some nights, they can look good (because they're phenomenal athletes in the NBA), but it's fools gold, because there are inherent flaws in their play that will always seal their fate out of the playoffs. Crawford will have nights where he looks like he's smooth cash money. However, you have to look at the body of work. Over the long haul, the results aren't good. He shoots a low percentage, and for a PG who is getting 38 minutes a game, he has a terrible assist total, and a terrible assist to turnover ratio (He gets 4.5 assists to 2.4 turnovers). Most importantly, for a guy who wants to take the most shots on the team, he isn't a winner. He's never done anything in the league. If the Warriors can't get a coach in here to teach these players how to play like a team, it won't matter how many threes they can hit. They'll always be on the outside of the playoffs looking in.
We need better defense and guys who can take care of the ball. It's nice we're one of the top scorers in the league, but when we're turning it over, getting killed on the glass, and giving up as many points as we score... forget it. We need 2 or 3 more pieces plus a team that can stay healthy On a side note, I really do like parts of crawford's game. He's pretty clutch and he's got a killer instinct to shoot right in somebody's face or when the game's on the line. I like Maggette when he decides to start inside and then out. Most of the warriors would stay outside all day shooting clankers, but Mags is one of the few guys aside from Ellis and maybe Azu/Sjax that can draw contact or get all the way to the basket. Everyone else that's not a big man is a bit soft or just not that quick... I really like Turiaf and Biedrins. We need more of those guys. Too bad we couldn't keep Richard Hendrix but our owner is a freaking moron who spends money until he runs out and then can't keep the guys that could help us on the glass. Our budget is jacked. Our owner will spend but he won't do so wisely. I like Belinelli, Randolph, and Wright. We need to keep adding more big men and guys similar to Belinelli who can shoot/pass/dribble and are actually complete basketball players. The only exceptions are guys like Biedrins or Jrich.
This game is horrible. The warriors just shoot outside and they don't bother to take it in. Plus, the turnovers are killing them.
You're being way too kind IMO. Crawford flat out sucks. I don't like any part of his game and never will. Sure, he can score sporadically and isn't afraid to take a big shot. But we already have a lot of players who can score (and all more efficiently), and have several who can and should take the big shot over Crawford (Ellis, Jackson, and arguably Maggette driving). This is a guy who, like Maggette, will jack up a three-pointer when a wide-open Anthony Morrow is standing one pass away. Like when you go to Vegas, thinking you are going to beat the odds is a loser's game, and doubly so for a volume shooter. He also plays ZERO defense and has the lowest career FG% of any Warrior rotation player. I'm convinced that no team is ever going to win featuring Jamal Crawford, and I wonder if a team with him playing any meaningful minutes at all could ever win. He's that bad.
For some reason, I don't like Jamal Crawford on the run and gun Warriors and it's not because of him. It's more fit than anything (he would be great for a team like the Lakers or the Mavs), and I would trade him for Ramon Sessions in a heartbeat. Can you imagine a Sessions and Monta Ellis backcourt? Smoking.
He's really not that bad, but he did have a terrible game last night. Who else did we think we were going to get Al Harrington for? We're talking a 6'9, 250 pound forward that'd rather take a charge than swat and he can't even finish inside. The problem is we have too many sixth men. Typically guys like Crawford and Mags will play sixth man of the year off the bench. The warriors have had too many "sixth men" for far too long. We need starters and that means guys who pass, take care of the ball, shoot efficiently, and play defense. The warriors have not consistently played defense nor been known for their defense since forever. And that's why they don't have too many playoff appearances or rings. We can't slow down teams who have good players or more athletic players and we can't find any good offense other than scorers trying to jack up prayers. Our offense would be so much better with better shot selection and plays being run to get the ball to the guys who want to shoot. If they don't wan to play fundamental ball, they'll lose to teams that do play fundamental ball or teams that have a real franchise player to make all the mediocre guys around him better.
