Everyone ranks on the NHL and rightfully so, I'd be the first to agree that their product has gone wayyyyyyy downhill. I remember when I could name every Bruin on their current roster and now I don't even think I can name 10 guys. But there is one kind of hockey that will never get old, it is college hockey. It gets no respect, Women College Basketball gets more press than college hockey. I grew up going to beanpots at the Boston Garden and seeing the intense BC vs BU rivalries at the conte forum in Chesnut Hill (mass). I'm currently a student at the University of Maine and the hockey team is playing in the Hockey East Semi-Finals this friday the TD BankNorth Garden. If you really want to see some great college hockey.....I would tune into that. I'm going to see my Black Bears play on Friday and I'm so pumped. I know some of you live in different parts of the country but I'd really suggest watching some college hockey if you aren't a fan of the NHL. They play for pride and it's great hockey.
I personally hate hockey as does much of America. Obviously it's not going to get much coverage because it's an inferior version of a sport that sucks to begin with.

The Stanley Cup has been around since 1893...hockey is a great sport, the people that play it are tough as nails and so devoted to the game. And as for college hockey, you make another dumb point. Yeah it might be inferior to the NHL, but college hockey has a storied history too. You obviously just haven't paid any attention to it. The Beanpot has been a part of Boston's sports history, it started in 1952. Just because you don't like hockey, doesn't mean it sucks and all of America does not hate hockey.

The majority of the members on this forum would proably agree with me that hockey sucks. The beanpot is gay, it's for old guys and retarded college students. The four colleges in Boston with great hockey backgrounds play each other and it's a lot of fun for people who enjoy hockey in the city. Boston WAS a hockey town at one point too.

I live in Chicago and we have terrible hockey in the pro ranks, and since we arent Mass or Minn, we dont have great junior hockey or college hockey to watch. The NHL is coming back, i was upset they left, but they still need to eliminate about 10 teams cause there is no reason cities such as Columbus or Miami should have hockey teams.
The NHL will never recover and I don't even think it will be considered one of the four major North American sports for long. People down south don't care about it and up north most of us don't even give a <Censored>. It's just a boring sport.

Yeah great reasons not to watch a sport there. For one thing, more people hate hockey then basketball, and that's not debateable. Also, I don't care who likes what because I hate hockey and that's it.

Watch a game from 25 years ago and you'll see the way the game was meant to be played
