Every NBA player needs to do at least one thing really well. Could be shooting 3s, playing D, running an offensive set... one thing... What is Channing's one thing? If he isn't really good at at least one NBA skill, then he has no place in the NBA.
Channing Frye is basically doing what he was expected to do. When the first trade where Zach Randolph was traded for Channing Frye and Steve Francis, we all knew what we were getting. The problem was that too many people expected Channing Frye to be duplicative of LMA. what Channing can do is that he is very similar to Aldridge is not as skilled. Channing is good at shooting the midrange jumper. He's just not getting enough burn to be effective. He's a tweener which is what we expected, so I don't get the shock. Right now he's playing as a 12th man in the doghouse but I have no doubt that Fry can probably pick up his game and contribute maybe next year. I think this year is kind of a wash for him, too bad we probably won't re-sign him unless we can't find anybody up to take his place which I find hard to believe. I think he needs to get more into the rotation to be effective but he won't get that opportunity, I would guess that Nate sees him as a softie perhaps?
I think Channing should replace Antonio Harvey or one of the Comcast guys as a color commentator. I don't think this guy will be in the NBA much longer.
I'd love to see that. I'm getting tired of Antonio forgetting our own players' names and teams we've played just two, three nights ago.
